Nelson.81 could you give me the model number for those vp pro wheels, I'm having difficulty finding them thanks
No probs, I tried the mini pin versions on my buggy but ran them in a carpark & killed them in 1 pack the block(bulldog) are a bit longer lasting. They a truggy tire for racing so rubber softer than a basher tire won’t be as long lasting. But I’ve been through loads sets on my buggy @ only about £20 set for buggy I don’t mind going through a few sets.

I just found this on AliExpress: £60.76 | VP PRO 4PC 1/8 Truggy Tire Recreational All Glue Medium Hard 17mm Nut Wheel For 1/8 RC Truggy ARRMA Xray Hsp TRAXXAS KYOSHO

Slightly bigger than stock but super cheap and they get good reviews.
Circling back to these I finally had time to assemble the set and you MUST strap them on 6S or they balloon like crazy. That said they are very easy to strap because the tire surface is exactly the same width as Gorilla tape. Also, Gorilla Ultimate tape is significantly better than the normal stuff. With the regular tape tires will still expand a little but with a double layer of the Ultimate they barely expand at all it's 95% as good as actual belted tires (Ultiomate is fiber reinforced and cannot be torn it must be cut with scissors or a utility knife) I put a marker on the tire and double wrap is + about an inch of overlap at the end. Also using a heatgun on it to conform it to the tire and set the adhesive is a must.

One guy on youtube made a tool for this, a round wooden wheel and spindle he uses to flatten the tape on the tire after it's been flipped right side out, I need to make one of those.

Cheaper alternative to the stock Corally asuga tires almost the same size and very similar tread. Also they come glued.

I found them on Aliexpress and the seller has pictures with the diameter and width which the manufacturer does not give for their tires apparently: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804676839549.html

They state 144mm OD but the picture with the ruler seems to indicate a little over 130mm.

If you want to make a monster buggy these $20 166x105 tires would be useful:

Would probably need to use hex extenders and/or the long steering blocks to use them.
So I got the Amazon beadlocks I have found they will fit the Aliexpress Hyrax and UDR knockoff tires. They should fit genuine Hyrax too can't say about genuine UDR though because they require the pocketed bead that Hyrax tires have and I'm not sure if genuine UDR tires have that. That's what the ring of prongs is for they insert into the pockets in the bead and hold the outside of the tire against the outer ring. It is 100% secure the rubber would tear before the bead would come out. The inner (larger diameter) bead is trickier it has to be forced into the groove by the ring and you have to gradually tighten all the screws. I didn't think of it at the time but soapy water or thin silicone oil applied to the bead would probably make this process easier. So far threadlock does not seem necessary it seems the pressure from the rubber is enough to keep the screws from backing out.

The screws are kinda soft but I found better replacements here: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808887441392.html You want the m2.5x10x4 screws. These have a torx (T8 I think) head instead of a hex head but that's actually more resistant to stripping. The heads are 4mm instead of 3.5mm but if you look closely you see that the countersinks on the tires are actually 4mm and the screw heads are a slightly undersized.

Also because the countersink angle is the same you could use standard m2.5 countersink heads to set the bead then switch over to the more delicate non standard screws once the bead is fully locked.

Also these wheels have a bit of offset so no wheel extender is needed to run them on Corally vehicles.

Reposted from the Shiroi thread, my Asuga is out of commission with a dying servo (my fault for abusing it with a locked servo saver for as long as I did) and a blown rear shock so I tested the tires out on the Shiroi. I think it actually looks good with the raised body and oversize tires.

Here I used some old non serrated nuts if you use serrated then I'd recommend a thin nylon washer under the nut to prevent marring the aluminum.

BEWARE, these are NOT the same as the other Hyrax clones!

You can tell them apart because they come with plastic beadlock wheels.

They are made with a softer compound and will absolutely balloon like crazy on 6S. Strapping these is NOT an option it is a necessity. The bead also lacks the pockets that the Hyrax/UDR clones have so I'm not 100% sure it will fit the aluminum beadlock wheels for Hyrax type tires. It does look like the beads will fit the grooves in the wheels but I will need to test this. I would recommend just buying a set with the plastic beadlocks made for them.

Softer isn't necessarily bad, just make sure to add a double layer of Gorilla Ultimate tape and don't drive them on asphalt.

EDIT Some reviews show them installed in aluminum beadlock wheels but I can't tell if they are V1 or V2 beadlocks. The older V1s don't have the prongs for the bead.

EDIT: Not only softer rubber but thinner too definitely a worse buy than the non beadlock Hyrax copies which have very thick rubber. I'd recommend staying away from these and just sticking to the UDR copies. For the time being you know what you are getting with those. Seems like somone is now making lower qualkity clones of the good quality clones.
