I run on grass mainly & bit of gravel mainly they work for me, badlands give me too much grip on grass cause to much traction rolling & almost get 3 sets buggy tires for the price of a set of badlands. The pin style work better on grass but if I hit the car park I can kill a set in 1 battery pack, see middle set pictured 😝 so tend to use the block stlye(bulldogs) they give me just the right amount of grip but still allow it to slide/skid without traction rolling. I’ve saw a running vid with them I’ll try to find it think it was on nbrc channel
I did see the "baldies", LOL. Good info. I know the Prolines are great tires, but I don't own a single set due to the cost. I run TC Grabbers, Arrma BF's and CH for "soft" terrain such as grass, mud, snow. "Mini pin" type race tires in the dry summer months on my backyard track. Mini pins are hard to find for 1/6 8s rigs. I have some GRP 1/6, Duratrax 1/5 SC, Rovan 1/5 and a set of Jconcepts Chaser 1/5 on Losi beadlock wheels. The beadlocks are heavy AF, also tough as nails. A bit narrower than I'd like too.

Sweet, thanks! I bought a set of Katar T's from JRC several years back, when they had the non-belted ones. They're good tires I feel, but mine still look like new because I use them so little. They are okay for loamy dirt, but greasy on hardpack and too narrow for snow. I've run them a few times on my monster Mojave, which is a Mojo 6s exb w/Kraton arms and FT shocks and a Rocket 4092.

The VP tires seemed perfect for the terrain in this video. Shame about the stripped hex, I do wonder if the VP tires would fit the Arrma Katar wheels? Think I have a set of bald Katar T's kicking around somewhere from my bro's Tali EXB. Not sure, I may have tossed them.

I fitted badlands for buggy to a set of cheap AliExpress tarmac tires/rims fitted no issue.

I should point out that all the wheels I’ve subjected to acetone were nylon, I hear ABS doesn’t do well in acetone. Best to test first.

Are they the same diameter as the stockies? Thanks
140x70mm so no they are slightly larger and significantly wider. The Asuga can fit 140mm tires just fine though. Considering that the Asuga is 15% bigger than a standard 1/8 buggy if you add 15% to the standard 120mm 1/8 buggy tire you get 138mm so they don't actually look oversized at all.

You could go the other way undersized 🤣

Badlands clones for $30

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808544585798.html

That's the cheapest listing I could find, some of the other listings have reviews that say they're pretty good. They are 128mm so close to the stock tire diameter. I'd order some myself if I didn't already have the 135mm mojave knockoffs, two sets of the Phaltlyne knockoffs and a set of the 140mm buggy tires coming. I already have too many tires. EDIT: Also they do not actually have "badlands" printed on them that appears to be photoshopped into the picture. They actually just have "MX28 Monster truck tires" printed on it. So technicly a "scam" but I mean you KNOW what you are buying.

Cheaper alternative to the stock Corally asuga tires almost the same size and very similar tread. Also they come glued.

https://www.vp-racing.com/products/...nal-tire/copy46_of_vp-503u-striker-evo-m3-0rb

I found them on Aliexpress and the seller has pictures with the diameter and width which the manufacturer does not give for their tires apparently: https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804676839549.html

They state 144mm OD but the picture with the ruler seems to indicate a little over 130mm.

If you want to make a monster buggy these $20 166x105 tires would be useful:

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807817586013.html

Would probably need to use hex extenders and/or the long steering blocks to use them.

EDIT: I linked the wrong wheels, those would only fir the UDR axles, changed link to Mojave 6S version which fits a standard 17mm hex with a 12mm thread.

So if you are using Hyrax tires (or the Aliexpress clones of them) and hate gluing here's a solution.

https://www.amazon.com/MORLORDY-Aluminium-Beadlock-Mojave-Upgrade/dp/B0DLWGNVBX

You would probably want to place a thin nylon washer under the nut or use a non serrated nut and threadlock.

Note that these will ONLY work with Hyrax tires for the UDR rims, which you can get cheap here tires only:

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256804861719155.html

Also I know what you're thinking but those plastic beadlock wheels would definitely interfere with the Corally hubs and steering blocks because the inner piece is a tapered cone unlike the aluminum ones.

You can also get clones of actual Traxxas UDR tires but you can't buy them without wheel afaik

https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256808992226171.html

Genuine Hyrax tires are $30 a pair which also isn't bad

https://www.amainhobbies.com/proline-hyrax-tires-w-inserts-for-traxxas-udr-2-z4-pro10163-00/p1010850

I'm not sure if genuine Traxxas UDR tires will fit those wheels, the little prongs on the beadlock wheel fit into slots in the bead which the Hyrax and clones have as well as the UDR clones (which seem to just be a Hyrax clone with different tread). I'm not sure if the genuine UDR tires have that.

Picked up an Asuga threw a set of vp pro onto it see what they looked like. Haven’t run it yet.

The VP Pro tire is visibly bigger than the Asuga tire about 1.5cm larger and 1cm wider so I'd guess those tires are 145mm vs the 130mm stock tires.
