I also have a question about your driveline. Im gonna start a new build soon & going to make driveline straight like yours but use if different length shafts so hopefully won’t have same issue with difficulty getting front shaft in. But looking at different length shafts I can do it with do you think total length of 85 +168=253 is the ideal setup how much float is there front/rear want would you say is perfect total length. I’ve looked at scorched shafts to see what combinations I can make up for what I want to do & one of the 249mm setups would work best for me so do you think I would get away with loosing that 4mm over the 253 mm overall length? I think if not I could maybe use an arrma centre diff gain a few mm back but all in the calculation stage atm.

I use a 168mm infraction titanium centre rear driveshaft and the 85mm titanium front centre. There's a little float on the rear - which I space out with silicone fuel tube to centre the shaft. You need this space when you service the centre diff.

However, on mine, I positioned the diff slightly further forwards. There is very little float on the front driveshaft - maybe 1.2mm.

I concluded the optimal, no compromise solution is your first number - 168 / 85

This gets your weight forward and centred.

My XTR drives like a GT on tarmac and has great response. In terms of handling, I really thinks it's top tier. I doubt there's there's another Monster Truck quite like it.

Until yours, that is! 🤩👍

I suppose if the centre diff is mounted more rearwards, large motors could me mounted ahead of the diff - leading rather than trailing - with the weight kept forward that way.

Thanks I’ll probably be going the 114(116)/135 combo scorched lists it as 114 but says arrma 116 so it’s somewhere in between 249/251mm overall should able to make that work plan drop 1721 in there if can make it fit with dual packs this idea been in my head for too long I need to remove it to make space lol

This sounds very spicy! Good luck with this. 😎👌 Please keep us posted. 👍

It's in and looking great! 😎

The finned diff case is a really nice upgrade over the XTR diff, which in fairness has been pretty good bar the o-rings, which are fragile.

The precision of EVR part necessitated my 'relieving' my crudely, hand-drilled centre diff mount holes. Carbon fibre quickly dulls drill bits, so I gave my self some flexibility by drilling 4.5mm on selected holes.

Embarrassing compared to the perfection that is the EVR centre diff mount, which is very burly and no-nonsense.

Quick clean up - and it's good to go!

Shame about the weather, which is wet and very windy. No test running today.🤭

Thought I'd add that I'm running with 100k centre diff oil.

XTR had it's shake down with the EVR diff. As expected, the diff performed flawlessly and the car didn't break - despite being constantly on and off on the brakes....

The Gens used for the test run was surprisingly punchy.

Plus - no sign of leaking - so green slime seems to be working well! 😅👍

Looks friggin great , looks fast just sitting on the bench 👌. I might share it on fb if you don’t mind deserves to been seen, I’ll tag EVR & thank him for the parts for you also. What’s next for it 😅. Been totalling up want mine next venture gonna cost me going for a similar layout to the sworkz, seems to be the layout buggy’s truggy favouring now in racing. But hopefully squeeze 1721 1260kv in there, if not go for 1650 that’s the plan. So far it’s coming in less than the sworkz buts that’s with using a torox I have sitting spare & a 4292 1780. Big Motor/esc combo will have to wait a while.

Cheers buddy! 🙏

It would be great if you share Horatio's 'Wide Boy' XTR on FB. 🤩

It's on a par with your builds, so people looking at your page will just think 'Nelson has picked up and old XTR and modified the heck out of it. Again' 🤣😝

EVR has mentioned that he's checked out this thread - so he definitely approves! 🤩😁

The centre diff and mount is so understated, but it's clearly a very burly arrangement and much better suited for extreme use. I can't wait to see how it performs down the 1/4 mile strip.

It will also be really good fun to rip this thing around on the pump tracks I found recently. 🤩😁

No probs 👍 I don’t post on my own page Keep myself to myself in that regard only use fb for hobby car content really but I’ll put it on a corally bashers group more rc enthusiasts will see it.

So - it's Snow Day in Wales! 🤩

Pretty much the last 48 hours have been quite snowy in much of Wales.

So - perfect weather to blast the XTR! 🤩
