Having been the first on the scene of a number of motorcycle accidents, it re-enforced my own belief that motor bikes and cars cannot ever safely mix.
When I was 16, I promised not ride a motorcycle on the road.
First accident, patient received a neck injury, but went on to make a full recovery. Car turned right in front of him.
Second accident, motorcyclist collided with a coach with a pillion passenger, having crossed the line at excessive speed, hitting the side of the coach. Both were seriously injured, but unfortunately main rider lost his leg - only a thin strip of leather kept it with him, albeit his leg was up by his ear.

Grim.
Third accident - 2 motorcyclists riding on separate bikes. The one following crossed the line and hit the car in front of me head on, impacting the screen and driver's side pillar (in the UK, we drive on the left and the driver's seat is on the right). Driver was in serious nervous shock and motorcyclist was on the edge of a sheer drop into woods.
I retrieved the female patient and began CPR at the roadside for 20 minutes, whilst first responders arrived. First cyclist arrived to call emergency services and it became apparent that the female I was working on was the fiancé of the first rider.
Sadly, it was quite obvious that the patient had multiple bone fractures in all limbs, pelvis, skull and ribs making CPR extremely difficult/upsetting.
Once paramedics arrived with the defibrillator, they tried for 5 minutes and pronounced her dead at the scene. Her fiancé was inconsolable.
The driver of the car she hit was unscathed physically, but could not see through his glasses for her blood. Clearly in a traumatized state, the police gave him a really hard time for being like zombie, which I found extremely unreasonable. I cleaned his specs for him and asked the paramedics for guidance, as he clearly was in no state to do anything - let alone drive home.
I later learnt that the deceased had severed her brain stem, thus no success with the CPR.
I'll never forget it.
I love bikes, but I'd only ride them now on a circuit.
