Is that gorilla tape or something else? I've been using two layers but I guess 1 is enough? I my experience it's not quite as good as proper belted tires they still expand a bit at very high RPM but it's miles better than unbanded and way cheaper than belted. They may grow a few mm but they maintain a proper tire shape rather than becoming pizza cutters.

EDIT One other thing I like to do is heat the tape with a heat gun on low after the tire has been flipped right side out and then press the tape down to the tire with leather gloves on. Have to be careful to not overdo it and melt the rubber though (this has never happened to me but I imagine it could)

I think heat definitely helps the glue get activated.

I'm using gorilla tape. Essentially, it's gaffer tape. I use one layer but overlap the end by about 5mm.

It's been working good on my 1/10 wheels so far - subjected to over 4000rpm. 👍 That's a motor speed of 46000 rpm!

These soft rubber compounds would definitely expand and do funky things to handling otherwise.

Belted tyres would work better, but they'd definitely be heavier and cost more.
