Corally make some I have not used it personally i just use normal super glue ! I am sure someone will come along and give better advice than me

Don’t know about the best but I use the core rc tire glue. Best to check the tires before running each can sometimes let go in an area maybe need a bit more added.

Hello guys best tyre glue to buy please (I'm in the UK) I've bought tyre glue before but it wasn't that good! So I'm asking you knowledgeable guys!
The best tyre glue is aerospace grade cyanoacrylate - super thin.

Zap

It's super thin - thinner than water - and requires very careful handling. It will invisibly coat everything - your bench, tools, fingers etc! 🤣

Surfaces to be bonded need to be cleaned in detergent to remove any residual mould release agents and then 'keyed' with a light abrasive.

The quality of the bond is all in the prep.

In theory, you can still boil off the tyres without destroying the wheels or inserts.

Or:

Contact adhesive.

Again, still needs the same prep work. Both surfaces require a light coat of glue and left to go tacky. This makes it tricky to fit tyres with - once tacky, it grabs straight away - basically no second chances - it's a one shot deal.

Permanent, flexible glue, so unlikely to ever come off. When the tyres wear out - buy new wheels. 😅

Thanks Horatio,

But your quote

"In theory, you can still boil off the tyres without destroying the wheels or inserts."

What do you mean by boil off please?

Cheers Phil

When the tyres are worn out but you want to re-use your wheels and inserts, with cyanoacrylate glue you can usually release the tyres by boiling them for a few minutes in a pot.

Just make sure the lady of the house doesn't catch you! 😅

What about a runny 2 part epoxy like Devcon 2 Ton? Takes 24 hours to set and remains workable for at least an hour. That way you could apply it between the tire and hub with a brush and then wipe off the seepage or any slipups on the exposed tire with a microfiber cloth and alcohol. Yes it takes a full day to set but you also get plenty of time to get it right and can correct any screwups.

Acetone will remove cyano glue as long as the substrate is safe for acetone.

Epoxy isn't flexible enough. 👍

Contact adhesive and Zap super thin are the best options.

Devcon 2-ton epoxy is more flexible than cyano glue when cured that's why I mentioned it. Not all epoxy is the same some are brittle (and crap) and some are flexible enough that you can cure it on a sheet of paper and fold it over and it won't crack.

I'm fully aware of the differences between epoxies, but it's not the material choice for tyres. Cyano super thin works really well on prepared surfaces purely because of how well it bonds rubber to plastic. If you use too much however, just as you noticed - cyano isn't flexible at all. That's why less is more when it comes to bonding tyres to rims with Zap. Thus super thin is best when using cyano.

Harder epoxy isn't necessarily crap because it isn't as flexible as other glues, it depends what you need it to do. I used to work with 3M Carbon Epoxy when assembling the target drones but also frames for mounting aircraft seats. The joints were checked by ultrasound prior to sign-off. You couldn't fold that glue - but then there was no requirement or expectation for that degree of flexibility.

Contact adhesive works really well - but there lies the problem. The wheels become single use.

Likewise Evo Stik Serious Glue would definitely work - but it's messy and would be single use again.

There are also rubber modified epoxies, such as IRS 2129-1, which I'm certain would be better than Zap super thin - but it's not the sort of thing you pop into B&Q to buy.

Not sure if this would work but I know on my boat when it dries it’s not moving. It’s waterproof adheres to plastic rubber etc, know I’m new to RC buggy just a idea

I ended up using Bob Smith Industries super thin CA and ruddog ultra thin steel tips. First try I got a lot of seepage out of the bead but I figured out if I filled the bottom of a saucepan with 1/4" of acetone and dunked the bead in and then scrubbed it with a toothbrush it'd come right off. For less thick oopsies the corner of a microfiber cloth soaked in acetone works well. It won't get into the bead unless you soak it for days or are trying to peel the bead back to let it in. In the future I'm going to try removing any seepage immediately with a microfiber cloth and acetone.

You just reminded me of Devcon 2 part marine epoxy, that stuff sticks to EVERYTHING even nylon (it is the only thing I have ever found that will glue nylon well). It'll even stick things together underwater.
