Here's the near solution I use. Plug and play, twin fans mounted to a finned, vented mount. It definitely helps.

Nice! I just go low budget so I can have more toys.. it's a character defect perhaps,IDK.
I just bought 10, 35x10mm 5v fans from amazon for 20 bucks. Replace as needed. I have bought Rocket aluminum fans for $15 a piece with the covers.. 5 minutes into a bash, broke.. screw that. I'll stick to the cheapest fans that do the job.✌

I should mention that I "splurged " on a Ruddog 40x10mm high powered fan once.. over a year ago..still working!! Don't sound so good but, it's stood the test.

For a basher this is completely unnecessary. I know that's what promodeler recommends, I have two of their servos. And I did this installation on my MAXX and after the second pack I got fed up with it and went back to standard installation. To much hassle and doesn't really provide any noticeable improvement vs connecting directly to the receiver with the ESC set at 7.4v. Also, the extra weight of a dedicated battery pack will translate to more breakages.

Put a big fat anti brownout cap in there like between 4700uf and 6800uf. It'll bridge the split second high current draw and improve performance over running it straight off a BEC. Still not as good as a li-ion receiver pack but it's cheap and better than just a BEC and it's not inconvenient to run. Or if you want to get a bit more spendy get a supercapacitor based backup guard for helis and planes. for all intents and purposes that should be as good as a li-ion. Those things can run the electronics for a good couple minute all by themselves once they charge themselves upo off the BEC.
