Sketer Sketer going WIDE

Hey @RCproponent - can you do me a huge favor?

Can you throw the stock corally tires on the Sketer with the wide arms and take a pic?

I've been going through the Sketer manual and it only lists one shock. I double checked and it definitely looks like they used the same shock front and rear.

The awesome part is that it's the same shock on the rear of the Kronos!

It sure looks like the Kronos tower will fit the Sketer, if so then we already have the correct shocks.

Good find, I just checked, rear shocks are same between the two, pretty sure front shocks are also. Front and rear shocks are NOT the same on either truck, but doesn't matter.

You will need to get the stiff springs from the new Kronos XTR, the Sketer uses medium springs which are way too soft.

I dunno, man.

TC only lists one shock in the Sketer manual, I know the Kronos has different shocks front/rear.

Here are the Sketer front/rear side by side. I can't tell a difference.

Oh sorry man, I was measuring mine on the truck, but I forgot about the droop screws so my fronts are not fully extended. So same shocks front and rear on Sketer, which are same as rear Kronos shocks. Kronos front shocks are different, so you will need to get the Kronos front shocks if you convert to Kronos towers. You want '22 Kronos XTR shocks, not '21 shocks so you get all the updates.

Here's a question for you, Razor.

What are the handling differences between

1: Shorter shock that is more upright
2: longer shock laid over at an angle

It looks like I can set this long arm conversion up either way depending on shock and shock tower combinations.

Kronos rear tower, Sketer shocks, long arms, wide hubs.

I've got the droop set just before the shocks reach full extension but I could reposition the shocks to get more. I'm calling it good and moving on to the front.

The Kronos rear tower accepts the wheelie bar mount just fine but does not accept the upper mount of the tower to tower brace.

I'm sure it'll be fairly easy to add a flat bar between the tower and brace to fix that.

Awesome! So, how does she handle and drive now?
That's a very good question...
I don't have any 4s batteries, I haven't even measured the battery tray to start shopping.

And can you still fit the Sketer body with the Kronos towers?
Nope. The Kronos tower puts the body mount spacing more narrow than the Sketer tower.

So you never even tried it at stock width?

Nope. 😆 I ordered the wide kit when I ordered the Sketer.
I'd seen enough running videos to know I didn't want to keep it stock.

So I just put some Kronos shocks on and they still aren’t long enough! Might need Kronos tower which means that the sketer body won’t fit. But since you are doing custom body it might be ok ..

Doesn't TC have 2 different shock rod end options for the shocks? Or perhaps longer rod ends from somewhere else? They're fairly generic,no?

Just don't think it would give the width and handling I am going for.

My stock body has holes all over it now due to the amount of rollovers and roof skids...so was replacing it anyways. And I hate the looks of the stock one...so there's that motivation also.

I may move the stock Sketer rear shocks to the front since will be using the longer ones for the rear anyways. Will look at the geometry when I start tearing it down.
Curious whether the RC Kaiju body would line up well on the Sketer? I know some don't like the Datsun body, but I love the look of it myself.
