SHIROI Does anyone else wish they'd sell kit versions?

I wish every RTR was also available in kit form. After a few weeks of owning my kagama4 I'd had a few shall we say not quite enough loctite issues, I took it apart and rebuilt anyway

My Shiroi had no shims on the center diff (over 0.5mm of sideways play) and the axles were over shimmed, they've apparently started putting two shims under the outer wheel bearings retaher that one to eliminate out of the box play in the axles at the cost of some axle bearings being overloaded and brinneled. What they should be doing is one bearing shim per hub (like they used to do) and then provide a pack of axle shims on .2 .1 and .05 and tell people they need to shim the axles because every hub or steering block needs different shimming due to tolerance stacking. I understand that this is too time consuming to do at the factory but over shimming everything is not the answer.

lol chassis length is in between buggy & a truggy so similar to an outcast or a mt410 so what wheels tires put on it could make it a sct, truggy , stunt truck whatever you want. I was just looking at the bbs shocks it comes with to put on a build they £150 on there own throw in the 7075 chassis & shock towers I think it’s a nice little package.
 
KKPIT also has nice kits.

I am a guy who prefers kits and rollers above RTR. I like to add my own electronics and also prefer to assemble it my way (and instantly get to understand what i bought exactly). Building a kit also is an enjoyable experience, i got several tamiya kits that i got for just the sake of building them (and not really drive)

It makes me happy a brand like corally sells rollers. Traxxas and horizon obviously want to push their own high margin so so electronics.

But indeed, why does Corally not sell the "sports cars" series as kits too? Just like the "racing" series (which i think are slightly too expensive). I wouldn't mind to pay a similar price for a kit as a roller. I guess packing and quality control probably make a kit as expensive to make as a roller. And to carry both requires high shipping volumes...
 
Some of it might be due to warranty issues. When selling a kit, you never know the quality of the mechanic assembling it. I know my 12 year old self putting together a clod buster was nowhere near where I am at today.

If RTR gets more people into the hobby and some of those people stay in it, I’m for it.
 
Yes! Kit versions please. Everything I own is built by me sooner or later. 😅

Besides, savouring the build is the best bit!

Given the choice of a ready built car or a kit with higher quality option parts - I'd take the kit. Every time.

My only ready built car is the Kronos XTR. Look how that turned out. 🤣

Whilst Corally after sales service is 2nd to none, why insist that all non-race vehicles are ready built? Especially when many users of 'basher' rigs are actually experienced hobbyists, not total noobs.

Plus - if these ready built rigs are disassembling themselves anyway.....
