Gotta love uk weather, too keen to get on it cold tyres caught you out lol god dam kerbs , got lucky, all depends how hit them I’ve hit them slow caused damage, last hit was ripping got away with it, give me a little bit more confidence in the adu hinge pin holders that hit 😅

Yes, the rig was accelerating. There's a moment where the truck was heading to the left. The wheels were off centre. The very slight correction whilst giving it the Beanz resulted in the slide.

My corrective action in response to the slide once it started occurred within a tiny fraction of a second, but it wasn't recoverable - not at 60mph!!. 😬 I have wondered if my 'countering the slide' actually helped take the truck at 90° into the concrete...🤣 I hope I get points for reflexes!

I particularly like the debris flying up into the air!

This is why we need servo savers. 😝

The servo was full left at this point. 😬

A nasty impact - but it could have been worse. Tbh, I wouldn't expect any rig to survive unscathed from an impact like this.

Which reminds me - I must examine the Carbon arm inserts on that side - they may have de-laminated.

I hope not because they are hard to source. 🤞

There’s nothing worse than the sound of an rc scraping down the road I hate it, it’s like finger nails down a chalk board for me 😅 I can only imagine how you felt with it being handmade carbon chassis 🤬😖😫🤯🤦🏻‍♂️😂

My immediate thought was - well that's torn it then! 🤬

I was delighted when I found it to be intact. Even the camera survived. That mount is basically a reusable gummy based thing, which sticks to any smooth surface.

Normally, the camera would have been 25 yards away in the weeds!

Basically - I lucked out. 😅

Is YouTube the only way to upload vid clips on this forum?

Oofff when I saw that crash I was like….

Apparently all that carbon fiber makes a pretty tough truck!😎

Realistically, I don't think you can share mahoosive 4k video files any other way. 🤔
My phone definitely not 4K lol need to get a GoPro or something but I tried to put couple clips up before couldnt find a way to do it. Maybe have to create an account on YouTube if it only way

That's the damage. Turns out Jetko wheels are pretty darned tough!

But there lies a problem. With great strength, comes great responsibility...wait a moment...comes collosal rotating mass...

I’ve been looking at the fastrax supaforza belted tire of the ftx supaforza gt decent price , was considering them for buggy but if wanted to lower the lcg even more save some more weight 🤷 maybe & gear it up

That’s a substantial weight. I was looking at the website to see if they are belted (yes) and saw they weigh 452 gram. You lost 11 gram after the crash!😄
I really like the look of those Jetko’s, but also like the look of the new Louise 1/8 MT tires. Also belted and 370g each; a bit smaller than those Jetko’s though.

I've seen the Louise MT tyres - they would save about 300g of rotating mass! But: there are those that say that they aren't straight/mounted right. 😬

I'm not worried about balancing issues - I can fix that. But I can't do anything about the tyres if they're on the wonk.

They look good though, and fall neatly between the size of my Jetkos(150mm) and Sweeps (140mm).

Today I prepared the rig with new input HD (spring steel) drives, and HD rear axles.

PXL_20241011_154435267.MP.webp

The front input is the one on the left - but it's been replaced once already. The one on the right is the rear and has significant wear.
PXL_20241011_154340877.MP.webp

These are the rear axles. They've been run since December 2021 and show virtually no wear! Given the stocker's wear rate, the HD items may last forever 😅🤞

PXL_20241011_154516822.MP.webp

These diff output drives are waiting to go in, but the existing ones are so healthy, I'm going to wait.

Tyres. Well the thing is, when you Hoon around and slide at 60mph - this happens:

PXL_20241011_154117402.webp

Flat spots. 🫤

PXL_20241011_154132430.webp

And scars like this.

So I'm going to try the Louise 3.8 MFT Rocket Speed tyres.

At the speeds I'm looking at (for now at least), sub 100mph, I'm hoping the MFT system is strong enough.

I'm also hoping they're round and not mounted on the wonk as some people have complained. If they achieve that - 300 grams less rotating mass seems too good to miss. 🤞

So Sandracer - should I pull the trigger on 4 of these:

1000025560.webp

Seems like an option I have to try. If they're wonky - they can go back. Reading the stuff on Louise website, they seem to claim a process that eliminates this from ever happening. 🤞

Yes, buy those new Louise tires😉. Interested in what you think of them; like I said they look great and quite some weight savings compared to the Jetko’s (which also look great BTW).
Ehm, as for those input cups. For setting a new speedrecord, you want everything top notch, but for bashing those are hardly worn. If you swap front and rear the current wear is on the other side ( reverse power side), so they will basically be new. Keep them as spares for bashing.
Those HD ones should be a lot tougher.
We have a Arrmaforum bashday today, the Kagama will have its’s maiden run. Like with the Muraco it was an impulse buy and haven’t been able to go through diffs etc. 🙄🤞🤞

The Louise tyres are on their way in the 'Speed' version (soft compound), mounted (not beadlock).

L-T3353SB

The cups once they get notched like that start allowing some slop - probably not an issue for general bashing. It's just not in my nature to leave anything like that. 🤭 RC OCD!

My rig has effectively been rebuilt since it's last run, cleaned, lubed, all batteries cycled. Battery management is a full time job - as the weather is getting colder, it was time to go through 12 packs, 6S, 4S, 3S.

Good luck with your bash day! It's great that Arrma and Corally get to bash together. Solidarity! 💪😎

I had a chance to showcase this build on the Arrma forum. The Arrma fans are liking the Corally Kronos with Kraton Influences. 🤣😝

Showcase + Build thread. 😁

They should do the same thing here.

Done! 😁🤞

£80 for a full set. I'm working out the revised rollout in my calculator, which currently does 140 & 150 size tyres. It now needs to give the option for 145.

An RC enthusiast's work is never done....🤣

Hopefully taking my rig out today on Jetkos.....🤞

Nice. 🤞 On the 145mm tyres, the rollout changes from 52.66mm/rev - to 50.90mm/rev, which on 22v gives me a predicted top speed of 74.9 mph using my 1780kv motor. If I wanted to risk it, I could try the Kuron 825 on the same gearing and it could theoretically hit 92.68 mph. Or catch fire - you decide! 🤣😅

Rinse/repeat.

But this time - it went faster. 😁 Video to follow very soon. This rig is wild.

AGF servo horn = destroyed.

In the video, you will see how I 'drive around the issue' - until there is no more steering. 😬

It turns out that Torque steer is a thing. Glad it's on camera.

Hopefully get mine going soon, lot other poop going on held it up, but waiting on more bits to arrive aLao, upgraded agfrc servo horn is one of them, you can have my original 😅. But this came today, hitting upgraded hinge pin holders so going to have to fettle it a little bit. Battery tray, servo springs & new wing still to arrive.

I always throw those servo horns away, that you have to adjust with those little hex1.5 screws. I had stripping servo teeth once using that servo horn, and never again had that using a one piece servo horn.
