13t is just gonna waste your time. You're gonna switch it ASAP. 15t a good starting point. You don't have a tone of pinion options unless you change the spur gear. (In that case, leave the 13t pinion and change the spur from 52t to 46t.)

Currently my Shogun is running a 46T spur and a 15T pinion on a HS 1850KV 4274 motor. I run it on 4S, and the temps are very agreeable for all the electronics.

The only problem is that even with the smaller spur and bigger pinion, it still has quite a bit of torque. It can do a 10ft triple from nearly a standstill. Great for when you need to make up time, but an annoyance when you're trying to navigate the infield. 🤦‍♂️

In the Meantime I rotated the ESC. As you can See, the Max6 can fit well in the Body when some adjustments (in my Case 3D printed PA-CF parts) are made.

Can you share the files for the 3D printed parts?

Can you share the files for the 3D printed parts?
Hello, sorry for the late reply.
Since my Last 3D files i was sharing, have been sold afterwards, I won't share them anymore.

I can provide printed parts.

Best regards

Mario

In Case of anyone Else using a Max 6 Combo:
I was swithing to Backflip LP tires with a lower diameter than the original Corally ones.
IT turned out, that a 15T pinion (From Tekno) suits best for me. Center Diff Oil is 2.000.000 (and could still be Higher).

Hi mate, yep I cover all my ESC's and motor fans with shrouds and window flyscreen and it keeps all the crap out of the fan blades.. On my KAGAMA I got one of those awesome server fans off aliexpress instead of running the standard 40mm rocket aluminium fan and gee that fan moves some air and for 5 bucks you can't go wrong... 😁

Much appreciated and any particular fans you use, or shall I just pick up the cheap rocket ones?

I think you used a server fan?
Oh sorry mate forgot the bloody fans. 🫣Will get it now

Hi James, just posted the fans. They also sell 40mm fan shrouds /covers on AliExpress as well.. The fan from memory doesn't have a futaba/JR plug on the end so just grab a lead off aliexpress, couple of bucks for 5, cut the plug off and solder the wires on from the lead.. If you need photos or any info just sing out mate.. Those server fans are awesome and cheap as chips

Do you run them on the ESC BEC? I see your fan pulls 0.66 A, but I also see a lot of server fans that pull 1 A. Either way it seems quite hard on the ESC. Have you noticed the ESC get hotter? Could also run them on their own battery, or on an external BEC or UBEC, but in my eyes that's just more points of failure and ofcourse it all costs $$$.

I seriously need to get my hands on some window screen, my current cover isn't fine enough. I have one suggestion, if you put some sort of spacer on the sides of the fan, the mesh gets suspended above the fan. I have noticed that often grass get sucked onto the fan cover, and it doesn't go all the way through the fan, but the ends get sucked below the cover and just touch the top of the fan blades. Hard to explain this but hope you get what I mean. I think this was the main cause of my fan dying. You could use some longer bolts with a stand-off (or just a nut) under the screw head. Ofcourse you could also use a chassis shroud as @Horatio often suggests ;).

I am also curious about the durability of the server fans. I see lots of people use them, but they surely aren't built for all the vibrations and shock in a RC. But then, I also doubt the cheap rocket fans and all the rebranded version are built much different.

I'm pretty sure the fans are rolling out of the same factory somewhere in China, just at different sizes.

To be honest, keeping a breeze over your motor and esc is a good idea.

I just use a chassis shroud because it's neat and helps keep the whole chassis clear.

My surpass and yeah racing fans are still running strong after 2 years! 😎 It's a bit of a lottery though - one pair of fans were dead on arrival.

There are some lovey alloy ones with Corally:
1000025397.webp

1000025398.webp

These are more like £15 each, but they in CNC cases. 😎

But, if you're making your rig look nice and stay cool at the same time....

Hi mate,

I just run them on the ESC 7.4V and as I only run 4S I don't have heat issues.. If you zoom in I have a metal fan shroud which keeps the flyscreen off the fan but you'll also find when you cable tie it the screen lifts upwards a tad so no issues ever impeding the fan blades.
My mates and I don't jump our rigs we set up tracks at the park or in the bush and race around so no real heavy impacts etc.
I agree with Horatio in regards to the surpass /rocket fans, until the server fan in my Corally I've used them on my EXB kraton, Asuga, Muraco and Sketer and never have I had one fail. The ones on my Kraton are going on 3 years old and, touch wood, haven't missed a beat same for those I've installed on my ESCs after the factory fans went bye bye.. I'm assuming Horatio means one of those dust bags when referring to a chassis shroud (?) if so I run a dust bag on my EXB but not on my other cars.. I haven't seen ones made for the Corally rigs, will have to have a look..

I haven't checked the current draw on my dual fan set-up, but I wasn't sufficiently worried about it to find a separate power source for them - I just plugged them in with a y-lead into a spare channel in my receiver.

There's no real load on them, so it should be alright. Otherwise, I'll be burning through my receiver. 🤞😬

As best as I can tell, 30mm fans draw 0.1 - 0.2 amps. High speed fans draw 0.5 - 0.8 amps, so worth bearing in mind if you run a crazy high power servo as well.

The Torox 185 supplies upto 6 Amps continuous on its BEC circuit. So unless you're running 4-5amps on your servo, it should be OK.

I know my Castle MMX can run up to 8amps. 👍

In the UK, we generally don't have much option other than to run on grass or tarmac. 🤣🤩

Or else it's the beach.....but all that salt....

Spot the 'dirt'.......nah, it's all grass and rolling pastures in my neck of the woods. They don't call it God's country for nothing!

So - we race on grass! 😎💪
