I rinse off with water, air gun then once defo dry use silicone spray.

Any body had any issues after rinsing with water? I haven't yet.

Shove an earplug into the wire entry holes of the receiver box. There are files to make a tpu gasket for the lid on printable. Though a light film of heavy grease will also work.

I normally blast all the crap off with the air blower , then wipe it down with a rag with a little bit of wd40 on it to stop the a screw heads rusting and leave it. I only use water if it's caked in mud, if I use water always make sure its dried off as I got sick of swapping out knackered bearings  , started to use a little travel hair dryer to help dry it off better.

Can’t agree with this any more. Unless the car is already fully wet, don’t get after it with more water. A stiff bristle brush and compressed air are the way to go. Silicone spray as an optional final step. Nothing wrong with wd40, it may degrade plastic but I can’t keep bearings in my cars. The plastics don’t degrade before they fail due to me being me.

I avoid using water, also.

Blow dry, brush then GT85 (which is basically the go to cleaner for cyclists and is now advocated for RC car use by Team Schumacher - contains PTFE - use responsibly). Leave in a warm place. Buff with a nice microfibre cloth. GT85 is magic on composite parts and helps prevent your steel screws going rusty.

Obviously, if your steel screws do get rusty - you have the perfect excuse you need to swap them for high quality titanium alternatives. They won't rust, are generally less prone to bending and weigh about 4 times less. 👌

Under-rated stuff that all workshops should have - Methylated Spirits. Great for getting oily residue off things. I've used this since my first nitro model in the mid 80's.

Isopropyl Alcohol (high purity only) - great for cleaning bearings without being caustic or making bearings gritty by damaging them, but also great for degreasing surfaces prior to mounting stickers, VHB, dual lock or velcro.

Sometimes, disassembly is required to deep clean cars properly.

But then - that's half the joy of what we do anyway.

Yeah titanium screws, but a bit expensive!
Is there any set that can be used in our rcs?
I don't like to unscrew the stock and measure them one by one....!

Most screws are quantified in the manual in a separate list.

Grade 5 screws aren't cheap, but they are a significant upgrade. Lighter and stronger. 👌👍

Screw kits are available for the most popular models, but there's nothing stopping people from mixing and matching. 👍

Pff i forgot that cars sold with... manuals!

As for what I clean the cars with, Dawn Powerwash, the foaming stuff. It puts the dirt in suspension, then a mist of water or low pressure stream of water to rinse. Blow dry, then let it sit in the sun.

I don’t wash unless the car is muddy or already wet. Or it has dog poop on it, though I know how to avoid that now.

Dreaded doggy landmines! 😱

Brush, blow, wipe, GT 85 on plastics and steel..

After every run - I take the little and often route to prevent build up.

It's amazing actually how much weight dirt adds to your rig. Clean = Faster. 👌
