Hi all,
Is there anyone out there who has driven their asuga on a 1/8 scale track, preferably on 4s as 6s would be nuts I imagine with traction being an issue. Does it drive as well as a race grade 8th scale, I've sold my tekno, mayako and hb so I've nothing to compare it to.

Watched a vid on the Spark last night where he widened 16mm I believe then ran on a track. He was impressed so I’d think the Asuga where it’s already wider would be right at home

You could fit truggy tires & some adjustable links to dial in the handling and I’m sure it be pretty capable on track but a basher never going to hold a candle to a proper race kit buggy/truggy, I can only compare my mugen to my radix buggy I don’t race on tracks but if I did, I don’t think the radix would touch the mugen. The weight difference between them isn’t huge but it feels greater when driving them , the mugen feels so much lighter & nibble on its feet.

Sounds good, I'm taking it out to a track soon, I've put softer springs on it, I've heard the stock tires aren't that grippy on some surfaces. Will be looking at method terraforms eventually

Yeah, sounds right. I'll have to experiment with settings. Definitely won't be as good as my eb482.1. That car handled so well, but have to say the asuga has been the most fun and fastest I've ever had

I have terraforms if running on track I would run my vp pros over the terraforms, they lighter probably more grip & cheaper.

My brother has an Asuga, and I have a backyard track. We "race" pretty much anything/everything on it. Hard pack clay, rough surface, many rocks, roots, ect. From 2s TRX Rustlers to Arrma/TRX 8s, we each have 4x4 3s, 1/8 buggies, truggies, MT's.
He hasn't used the Asuga much TBH, he broke it rather quickly last year when he ran into a tree, which my track also has many of.
He started off w/stock TC tires, okay but really greasy on hardpack clay, then switched to truggy race tires, much better, but made it a bit tippy in the turns. Traction rolls. His is an RTR w/TC electronics, he say's it's too fast for the track on 6s, I agree, but the RTR radio is trash,. Delay is really bad from it.
I have my own rendition of an Asuga, which is a Kraton 6s w/Mojave 6s arms, driveshafts and shocks. It's almost the exact same size (wheelbase/track width) as the Asuga. They actually match up very well on the track, but the radio issues he was having may have led to his "crashing out", or was it the six pack he drank? IDK, LOL. I think with appropriate tires for the terrain the Asuga can run really well, but the odd size tires are tough to find. As to competing with actual race buggies, I don't see it, but a good enough driver can make a valid showing I think.

If it's too fast then gear it down to a 12T or 11T pinion, that's what I did with the 2250kv Hobbywing 4278 I put a 12T pinion in to keep the RPM about the same as the stock setup while increasing torque a bit. I'm using a Radiomaster MT12 on mine with 10% expo on the throttle and 20% on the steering which helps a lot with fine control. Also having an arm/disarm switch is convenient and improves saftey.

Tires that fit the Mojave 1/7 will fit the Asuga, it can actually handle tires up to 140mm diameter without exceeding the suspension limits, go too much more and the pivot balls will bind on the steering blocks at full droop though (the ADU steering blocks look like they might have a bit more range for suspension and steering but I haven't installed them yet). I'm wondering if it could be hopped up with parts from the SBX-825 racing buggy. Realistically the Asuga should not be competing with buggies rather with 1/8 truggies.

Actually the TC rigs run just fine on 4s and stock gearing for us on my little track. My brother ran his Asuga on 5.5" truggy tires, it ran well, but zero offset wheels cause the rear tires rub the body a bit. I have the TC 6s combo in a Tekno ET48 running 4s with 19/44 (I think), runs awesome. Also running my Kronos with the TC Kuron 825 motor, Max 6 esc on 4s. Could use a bit more top end, but 6s is just too much, shreds tires.
 
Recently we started racing on a track in someone’s backyard.
We all agree that we prefer using 4s in our 6s cars. 6s is heavier and don’t have long enought ‘straights’ to reach top speed.
When running 6s on the track, we’ve found tuning down throttle to about 60% gives better control; i.e. it takes more throttle before the wheels start spinning out.
 
Ok guys yall know I have the Spark and Kagama4. We’re planning on an off-road type course then a large race track. Once done I’ll post pics so I know it’s kinda hard to make exact suggestions. On the Spark would I be better to go slightly wider then my second question is for a new radio, like planes I have one remote that I can program up to 250 planes helicopters in. Just swap to that plane and I’m set, is there a radio for RC cars that is similar or what suggestions on a decent radio that won’t break the bank kinda beat bang for your buck deal

That's a great idea, turning down the power, soo hard to self regulate, LOL!
For a while my bro was stuck with 6s, he only had 3s packs and obviously 3s in a 1/8 basher truggy is pooh. So he would be running 6s and I would be running 4. I had the handling advantage, but he had the power, which can really "bite" ya. He would often blow turns because he was carrying too much speed, then there's the tire problems, 6s shreds tires. 4s is perfect for all but the largest of tracks in a 1/8 scale buggy/truggy I feel.

The Radiomaster MT-12 though is an incredible value the hardware is comparable to a futaba surface radio. However MAKE SURE you update the ELRS radio module and your receivers to the latest ELRS firmware it ships with v3.1 which has a rare but dangerous bug with PWM receivers.

Multi Protocol Module might be able to use some of your existing receivers and can use cheap flysky surface receivers. Whichever internal radio module you have you can use the external bay for a module for the other.

MT12 runs on EdgeTX and uses a radio module with it's own configuration and it's setup and updates are a little complex compared to other radios. You may want to look at options from Flysky and Radiolink if you just want something that you can take out of the box and use and where you just stick a USB cable in and flash it for updates.

Wow so nothing Spektrum wise I’m familiar with there programming
 
Ok I’ll look them up hopefully they offer a mounted tire wheel set up I’m a little lazy these days. I got all the parts in the fix the Spark but did a dumb arse thing and accidentally threw the package with shock ends in the burn pit while it was burning good 🙊. Already ordered another set ( shorts HD ), can yall tell what the difference is between the long and short shock ends?
