Thats a good tip I tend to make mine too tight.

I've used this method yes, but I've always wondered about all the different types of paper there are out there. Is the recommendation to just use standard printer bond paper? Whatever standard means!

Good question, my understanding is that one should use a piece of standard copy paper..obviously a cash register receipt or similar is much thinner..TBH I've even folded copy paper in half to double the thickness because I wasn't satisfied with single thickness. Wasn't sounding right while running the rig.

I guess this is likely due to the fact that there are different qualities (thickness) of copy paper on the market?

The gears should have just enough lash to feel/hear, but not see, if that makes sense?
