Either by design or by stacked tolerances the screw slightly interferes with the side of the motor mount. I was able to fine some pictures online and it seems the screw hole is meant to be where it is so that would mean either the slot was milled too far over or it that way by design. The top screw has clearance with the sides it's just the bottom screw that does this.

The two marrs on the inside of the rail are from the factory when it was assembled and when I installed the motor into the mount.

Also somewhat unrelated question but should there be any lubrication on the spur and pinion? I've only ever dealt with delrin gears on big helis which don't require lube.

Designed that way so can be adjusted for different size pinions gears. No there shouldn’t be any lube on gears the diff is probably leaking

People typically don't lubricatie their pinion and spurr because the debris the lubricant will pick up would be worse then driving without lubricant. I have heard some people give them a drop of oil before storing their rigs, but usually to prevent rust instead of lubricate. The front and rear diff gears should be lubricated, because they are cut differently and hidden in the bulkhead (bad heat dissaption but less debris).

I think you've misunderstood my questions.
See what you mean now was working nightshift so not the sharpest in the early a.m but never really looked that close at mine to notice if it design or a flaw as long as it bolts up and clamps wouldn’t worry about it to much out of sight out of mind. And your other question no lubricant on spur/pinion but if spot any diff probably leaking not uncommon with corally diff.

I didn't notice either but then there was the feel of thread interference as I screwed it in the second screw.

I was thinking more about dry lube than actual grease.
