So I needed some 600cst shock oil for one set of shocks, which I didn't have on hand, then I realized I can make 600cst by mixing 74% 500cst with 26% 1000cst. Which got me to thinking rather than buying the little expensive bottles sold to the R/C market what if I just keep two big industrial bottles of thick and thin oil and make whatever I need using a syringe to measure out premixes into smaller bottles?

I actually need a lot more of the thin stuff than the thicker stuff, found this on amazon:

350cst:

1000cst:

This is what I do, but I haven’t jumped on the oil in bulk from Amazon. Let me know how it works out. I buy 40-60-80 wt from Traxxas and mix accordingly. It’s the best value for me in small quantities and I prefer their nozzle.

For a basher, works fine. Racers may scoff at that. Horses for courses.

Sounds like you may well be onto something there 👏🏼

I agree he is on to something. I found the 1000cst on amazon. Didn't find the thinner stuff. Every time I change my shock oil it is silvery/brown and i just don't like it. I've added spring socks to help reduce dirt ingest to possibly extend service intervels. Still, silicone oil is expensive if you rebuild as much as I clearly need to. Cutting that cost down is well worth it IMO.

Traxxas is so expensive for everything though 🤙
