Kagama looking for a motor fan for a kagama4

Hello!
I have kagama4 but after using it for a bit stock, have realised that the air control/ability to do backflips isn't great. To get around this I am thinking of buying a bigger pinion gear (15t or 17t) and maybe some armma backflip wheels. However, it has recently come across my mind, this setup might make the motor quite hot and was wandering if anyone had any suggestions if/what motor fan I should get and if I would need a new motor mount or anything else to make one fit.

I definitely recommend a motor fan for any TC rigs, as the stock electronics run hot. You wouldn't need a new motor mount or anything. The fan clamps onto the side of the motor can. You can get a fan, mount, or fan/mount combo from Amazon or any online hobby store. It might be worth shelling out 10 bucks or so for an infrared thermometer to check motor temps. You can get these very cheap on Amazon.

I’m pretty sure Arrma wheels are narrower than Corally, so I would recommend some other brand like Proline.

I just did my Kagama4 last night grandson had some overheating issues over the weekend but he was running her non stop. I like this set up, forces the air to the motor it’s light very easy to install. I went with a rocket 🚀 fan 30mm aluminum here’s the TC part comes with straps I used black zip ties just for looks unless your fan comes with screws you will need 2-4 with these cheap y cables

The only downside I see with the plastic shroud design, is if you have a fan failure perhaps as a result of debris, you now have a large piece of plastic keeping your motor nice and toasty. If a fan on a heatsink fails you at least still have a large heatsink to passively conduct and dissipate heat. Just my two cents.
 
It’s a nice flexible plastic, I’m using the same on my Spark my only fan failures so far have been debris getting in the ESC fan. I am one those kind keep an ear eye out anytime something seems off. So far this set up has treated me good and is cheap

Those heatsink fans don't passively conduct much of anything because the ID does not fit the motor well enough for that and they also have less airflow directly over the motor than the plastic shrouds do, which force air between the shroud and the motor fins. The Castle shrouds use a coarse mesh cover and it's hard to imagine anything actually getting stuck in the fan.

EDIT the TC shroud seems like a poor design with that big TC logo right in the middle of the fan. Should have just had grill there instead.

My infrared thermometer readings tell a different story and the fan definitely blows directly onto the motor through the aperture in heatsink👍🏽
 
I know my set ups on both since adding have not had any overheating issues like to had before. Again I’m running HiVolt packs since fan installs for the money I spent bashed flipped etc still yet to have a failure. Only an occasional stick that shuts it down but the ESC lets me know the way it reacts after fan shut down

I installed that same shroud, with their metal 30mm fan and it works great. I got power from the receiver (2 channels empty out of the box). Just had to lengthen the fan wire and add some screws.
