I picked up some lighter oils yesterday for the Kagama4 I’ll most likely change them and diffs before the kids get here tomorrow

That's what Corally recommended. Even that's on the thick side for a fairly light an off-road truck.Would love to but Kagama4 doesn't have adjustable shock mounts, I suppose I could move the bottom of the shock to the outer hole on the arm
Yeah I think I already concluded somewhere further up that the factory supplied oil of 1000/800 needs to be changed, will get some 600/500 ordered and go from there.
Excellent, I let mine set for air bubbles a little over 5 min just find something else to work on while waiting. Crazy when you do and see how it changes thingsDeliveries! View attachment 9314
I replaced the shock springs last night just finished adjusting steering to my liking. Will be soon time to service the shocks again especially after a weekend of grandchildren bashing 2 days straightYupI'm in no rush, I can run 3 packs thorough my Grom and 2 through my DJI whilst the bubbles do their thing.

I got my Spark done had a little bash time yesterday amazing how much different they take bumps jumps etc after spending a little time setting up for how you drive. Fan shroud just arrived for my Kagama4 so I’ll start on full service and suspension setting up tonightAll done and suspension seems far more compliant and supple with a simple drop test, a lot less bounce and reverb.
When I took all the springs off the shocks all of the shocks had varying degrees of oil rebound with two of them being shockingly bad (no pun intended) which kind of shocked me because the little bleed hole in the cap makes it so easy to set them up properly, maybe Stevie Wonder did mine.![]()
In a good way I hopeJust took mine out now, it's like night and day with different oil![]()
Just a guess that it’s for the masses figuring that the rest like us will be customizing with oils springs etc. just a guess motorcycles ATV’’s have been like for yearsYes very much improved, I'm baffled why they send them out the factory with the heavier oil![]()
You won't regret it, changed my opinion of my Kag4 180. Honestly the handling over rough stuff was embarrassing at first, much better now.Glad I saw this thread couple weeks ago. My Punisher was also bouncy, not compliant on rough terrain. Just finished redoing the shocks with same 600/500 oil and also went with soft springs. Hoping for the best but have to wait for a few other parts to put it all back together.
Agree with everything here, I did not like it out of the box at all. I stuck with the standard springs and just changed the oil, the difference in handling on the rough stuff is like night and day, I can only guess that they set them up stock in this way as they assume most people will be running on the tarmac road right outside their house.Changed out to shock oil and put soft springs on, but never ran the soft springs. felt it was probably to soft of a spring rate. Would have had to adjust the preload collars substantially to get arms to be flatish. Another time perhaps for a general comparison. Took it out for a run and did make a huge difference. A must from stock @ least for me.
