Hi all
Received these xt90 connectors in the post today, quality looks great and I can't pick any difference when I put them side by side with Amass branded ones.
The seller swears they come out of the same factory in China, just minus the Amass brand,I know some xt90s are different but genuine, eg my xt90 turnigy packs have black connectors but they are also Amass branded.
Any thoughts?

Ah yes trusting the seller we all know how that can go 😅, "yeah mate no worries. Deffo seen with my own eyes these little beauties coming off the same production line, me nan uses them so they got be good".

You got them now so give them a blast 😃, if they don't melt, good to go 🫡

So I used to work for hardware and tool import company, my manager used to do regular trips to Chinese factories, he was always telling about all the assumed western competitor brands that just roll off exactly the same conveyor belt as eachother as well as the store brands and unbranded items...

I have XT90 on all my rigs/batteries. Some branded, some not. Probably around 50 or 60 connectors in total. I can see a difference in design, but never had an issue with the unbranded ones.
Amass on the right, you can see the thicker inner walls (but thinner outer) around the bullets and the Amass connector also has holes to lock the wire protectors into.

Interesting, here are some pics of what i have, gen amass on the right, unbranded on left, the clones have a slightly longer depth of insertion, maybe that is normal on the anti spark type connector, but I didn't have a genuine one to compare it with.

I would worry about the wires long before the connectors, most batteries are sold with a gauge of wire that doesn't even come close to the batteries *supposed" peak current
Yeah, I have 9ah 100C Ovonic 4s packs that have 12ga wires, other brands such as Zeee as well with 12ga. I run stock power in everything and haven’t had any hot wires to date.

I've yet to notice any hot wires on any of my packs, living in Australia my entire focus is on motor/esc temps.
Just went and looked at some of my packs after comments about wire gauge. Both the turnigy rapid 6s and ovonic 4s packs are using 12 gauge wires with genuine Amass xt90s, whereas the Zeee 4s packs are using 10 gauge and non genuine/unbranded xt90.
Have never had a problem with the Zeee non genuine connectors but the difference is clearly visible on the centre plug in the pic below.

Didn't notice the wall thickness on first inspection, definitely a big difference in insulation resistance between pins.

I tried a set of those Zeee 7200’s awhile back, they ran my Xmaxx no problem, several cycles, then I tried them in my Kraton 8s with v2 Firma 160 combo and they cooked. Ir’s were fine until the K8, they (cell voltages) dropped out after one full throttle pull. After that the ir’s were 50+ ohms per cell. Zeee refunded me no problem.
IDK why but the Zeee hard case batteries have been terrible for me, soft packs have been great.
Another thing I noticed with the Zeee’s was crimped bullets instead of soldered. Not with the XT90 but the EC5, all are coming through crimped these days. Problem is the wire strands fray and break at the crimped bullets on the EC5 equipped batteries. My brother has a bunch of them, kinda scary knowing they can short out..

I don't have a lot of XT connectors as I'm an EC5 guy. But i believe genuine Amass Pins and barrel connectors can rotate in place whereas the non genuine ones are molded and locked in place.
