Kagama For the kagama 4 what centre differential fluid would you recommend? (To stop front wheel ballooning)

200k is still a bit light for a basher, or at least that is what I mostly hear on the forums. It depends on your goals but if you want to decrease the front ballooning I would try 500k first. I run ~750K, that just seems to have a little bit of give compared to 1 mil, works for me.

I run 500k have also seen some who put rubber earplugs in the diff. I haven’t tried that probably won’t but 500k is definitely a good change to the center
Yes, KT used to essentially fill his centre diff with silicone mouldable earplugs. His centre diff became a spool! 😅

I still run 100k in my centre diff. 🤭

If I wanted to pull monster wheelies, I could up that to 500k.

@unusualsquirrel

200k would work just fine.

What sort of surface will you be running on?

Generally, the lighter oils are more forgiving. 👍

Forgive my ignorance, but when people say they want less ballooning do they actually mean they want more equal power distribution... As in no substantial power loss to the driven wheels that are actually in contact with the ground?

Less balloning means how power is distributed front to rear. If I’m correct thicker center diff oil will provide more to the rear wheels and you lighten oil more power will transfer to the front

With thinner diff oils, generally the rig is easier to drive on lower traction surfaces. With thicker oils, the viscous action of the silicone makes the diffs increasingly like a solid axle, requiring more force for the differential action to take place.

With thicker centre diff oil, less power gets bled off to the front when accelerating, which will increase the tendency to wheelie. If you want wheelies - thicker oil works better.

So Dialed states:

Front diff

Lighter front diff fluid
  • More off-power steering
  • Less on-power steering
  • Less on-power stability
Thicker front diff fluid
  • More on-power steering
  • More on-power stability
  • Less / smoother off-power steering

Center diff

Lighter center diff fluid
  • More off-power steering
  • More on-power rear traction
  • Less on-power steering
  • Less acceleration
Thicker center diff fluid
  • More on-power steering
  • More acceleration
  • Less off-power steering
  • Less on-power rear traction

Rear diff

Lighter rear diff fluid
  • More traction exiting corner
  • Less traction in corners
  • More off-power steering
  • Less on-power steering
Thicker rear diff fluid
  • More traction in corners
  • More on-power steering
  • Less off-power steering
  • Less traction exiting corner
