I found a pitfall to these, when running on dusty asphalt road grime settles on the mesh and makes it much less permeable to air than normally. There was a thick layer of grime on it after one pack and ESC /motor temps had gone higher than normal.

My ADU center brace is out for delivery, radio says by next Tuesday. Unfortunately I U-boated the Spark yesterday was jumping and landed in the Horse water trough 🙊. Gave me time to do a good cleaning pulled the receiver apart tried out and she’s back ready to bash

The dusty grime layer is normally the contents of your centre diff! 😝

On balance, it still beats FOD getting into your fans - which is what we discussed previously, right?

I'll take slightly less air flow versus none of my fans working (again!).

I was horrible to my 825 when I first had it. By rights, it really should have melted and seized in the first week of use. 🤭

Once I got the shroud and fans sorted, it solved everything.

Even during our Summer, doing crazy speed runs - temps stayed manageable. On tarmac, without the shroud, temps may have been fine - or better even - until a chipping gets in.

And it's not just about running temps - what about those rogue boulders that get in and chew your centre diff up? 😬😱 The horror of it! 😝

There's no right or wrong to it - it's an option either way. But I'm 100% certain the shroud is a better idea overall. Which is why I run them on my Sworkz as well.

Yeah, after assessing both a mesh on top or kind of loose with a decent gap. It's better to have some space. The full wrap around bag won't work for me, when it lands at the track it will be cut up by fine stones. So testing continues

The Hobbywing Max 8 G2 just seems to run hot no matter what, it gets about 15 degrees warmer with the bag but the temp climbs over the course of a run till it's pushing 170 degrees even without it. And that's with a stock 13T pinion on 6S and a 2250kv motor.

However, I think what's needed is a better fan, I'm going to try replacing it with a Surpass Hobby 30x10 28000rpm fan and see if that fixes things. I found out that the fan port puts out the same voltage as the BEC so that makes wiring less annoying at least.

I wouldn't hesitate to use the bag on grass, no fine grime to clog up the mesh there and much more chance of debris getting in the fan.
