Hi,

So my new Kagama roller arrived today with a leaky centre diff - good start
I was going to put 500k in it anyway, but I can not get this o-ring to stay in place when I push the cup through.

I've greased the o-ring with Protek o-ring grease

If I put the shims on and the cross bar it forces it down into place but as soon as I take the bar out it forces the shims up so the o-ring is not actually staying in the correct position. When I took this side apart I am pretty sure this o-ring was pushing up so was probably the reason for the leak

Any ideas on how to get it to stay in position?

Your building it wrong oring below the shims. Push drive cup through put oring on then shims. That’s quite a lot of shims though your gears might be too tight but you’ll know when you out it together if it’s too tight or will bind up completely.

Sorry read that wrong but The bar pushing the oring down will make the oring seal. Is that the oring that came with it it looks quite thick maybe they’ve changed them

Yeah I think this o-ring is too thick as well, I remembered afterwards that when I took it apart and removed the shim that o-ring popped up straightaway

Last night I even 3d printed a cover to hold the o-ring in place as I pushed the cup through but that doesn't work - 20261027_011811.mp4

If I put the shim on then I have to really force the bar through and the oring does then get pushed down, whether it is truly in the correct place I am not sure, I have my doubts because this diff was leaking when it arrived so I suspect this was the issue. As soon as I remove the bar the oring jumps back out.
This doesn't happen on the other side of the diff and it didn't happen on the centre diff on my other Kagama as well, so it's totally new to me

I've contacted the shop I bought it from, hopefully they can help

Put it back together see how it is worst case it still leaks. On mine I actually put extra shims if look at that 1st pic removes bit drive cup wobble seals oring better & tighter gear mesh but it’s a 6s diff not sure if it slightly different to 4s as they cast steel& 6s are cnc.

I know with Traxxas and some other brands the O-rings swell over time. My recommendation is to replace the O-ring with a new one. I suspect that will solve your problem.

I have this brand new Kagama and also a second hand one that I am now using for parts so I'm just gonna drop in the old diff while I wait to sort this one out, I wanted to use all the new parts but it should be good cos I only recently rebuilt it with extra shims installed and 500k

and then while fitting the wheelie bar I found that the rear diff is leaking everywhere as well, not very impressed with this so far.
The front diff doesn't appear to be obviously leaking

Is it normal for new rc cars to arrive with leaking diffs?
