Bringing a lipo back to life ?

Hello,

Here just using my home made discharger getting rid of some of the bad lipos..

Now I have a one nearly new CNHl 4s 8amp lipo with a one weak cell, it holds charge at storage 3.8v but once I charge it the bad cell slowly leaks voltage and of course in use its low before the rest and LVC kicks in.

Has anyone got a weak cell back fighting fit or is this a lost case and just discard the bugger ?

Try charging it at a lower amp rating like 1amp it will take hrs but it might balance out & recover failing that for the bin

You can check the internal resistance (IR) value of each cells on your charger.
If there is a big difference the lipo is bad and it’s basically game over.
You could try a full charge and check IR values before and after the run; if voltages and IR values between the cells are close, the lipo still has some miles to go. If not, ditch it.
Another sign of a bad lipo is if balance charging takes a lot longer than usual.

I've disassembled packs and build new ones from the good cells but I only recommend it if you're good with a soldering iron and are cautious with soldering live cells.

Once a cell is bad, its bad forever. It is not a recoverable condition. There are a number of different reasons why a cell can go out of balance prematurely. The "recap of worthwhile information" at the top of this thread is a great resource for getting the most out of your LiPo's.

Like @Atomic Skull I have taken the bad cells out of packs to use them for other purposes, but I don't recommend it due to how easy it is to create a fire hazard. Since learning how to treat my LiPo's, I have haven't killed one yet.

Cheers my dudes , I shall give it a slow trickle charge at some point, the IR wasn't that far out of whack of the others if I recall so see how it goes .

Just need find a day where I can be around all day and keep an eye on it.

Thoughts and prayers for my lipo . Got a free day today so seeing if 1amp charge can bring this back to life.

The cells keep creeping down in resistance and cell 1 ( the weak cell ) is slowly dropping so hope it gets back in line with the others

Nope the 4s is poop out of luck . Took ages balance and cell 1 absolute shat it pants past 4v. To the discharge pit with the other naughty lipos you shall go...
