Hello all, new to the forum here.
I am KeeCie and from the Netherlands.

I have a Kagama 6s and heard a lot of good stories about the Asuga.
So instead of buying a new one, I started on venturing in "buidling" one, but on a budget (sub €400).
I have ordered a set of esc/motor (the same as stock) from Metz. €138
I have ordered a Radiolink/receiver from our good friends at AliE. €73 (but 2 receivers, 1 for the Kagama).
Now I am pondering about the servo, I already a new stock (25kg) but am looking at a Yiping AK70kg. (€34)
Should I get it or just play with the 25kg? Btw, I don't have a roller yet, waiting for a good second hand deal.

My other cars are 1/16's "don't care" bashers.

Welcome to the club!👍
I have no info onthe Yipin 70kg, but I do know the Yipin 55kg is great; strong and super fast.
Thanks and well if the 55kg is good, I suppose the AK70 is stronger. The AK line is supposed to be coreless.

Welcome, the stock servo aren’t the best if your on a budget use it until it needs replacement. I haven’t used the yin pin servo myself but seen others give it good reports

For the price I think it is ok.

Got a yipin / GXservo think both the same thing but different names. Its a yipin 80kg brushless water ghost version in my kagama and x maxx it's over kill in the kagama but was cheap, its fast and strong and both have taken a beating and still fine after a year of abuse :) .

Gx do a cheaper version with a plastic top and metal body which seem worth the cash.

Thanks will check out AliExpress

I have been eyeing these ones, I also saw the AK-version and according Gemini, the AK- version are better.
Yeah about the speed, will I notice 0.01 second between different servos?

The ypin 55kg might be the same as the 70kg just with different gears. The 55kg is a good servo but I did break the gears in one.

So i ordered an AK70 servo. Let's see how it goes.
So now waiting for a nice deal of an aduga roller, preferably in the Netherlands. 😜

You will have to modify the servo mount to fit that servo because it is about 41mm long, not the standard 40mm. The issue is the position of the servo wire and the slightly oversize case makes it impossible to get the servo into the mount without damaging the wire. The easiest way is to grind the slot in the mount for the wire so it is longer and you can slide the servo in without damage. I choose a more difficult solution of cutting the side of the servo mount but doing that cleanly requires some tools that many people may not have.

It's also slightly taller than standard so you will need to space it up by about 1~2mm as well.

This is the servo I used in my Asuga and Shiroi, electronically is is the same thing but the case and gears are different. 70kg is overkill I think 555kg-cm and slightly faster is a better tradeoff. (I initially used the 70kg cm version before switching to the 55kg-cm version)

Check out XC-ESC's amazon store their ESCs are excellent and less expensive than Hobbywing and they also don't run as hot as Hobbywings thanks to the bigger heatsinks and fans. They now have a "budget" sensorless line (C series) if sensored isn't important to you.

Sadly they also have the same problem almost all ESCs have the fan blades break easily. The fans that come with an ESC regardless of manufacturer are like the peel on a bananna, you don't actually eat it. Even the fan on my Castle Creations Mamba Monster X 8S broke - twice - before I gave up on the stock fans and bought an aftermarket aluminum cased fan for it. I have no idea why but the aluminum cased fans don't seem to break blades like plastic cased ones do.

Jaiks.

Regarding the servo, thanks for the heads up. I will make sure my dremel skills will be up to par.

Regarding the ESC, luckily the stock ESC from my Kagama is still working. I guess I haven't bashed it hard enough?
So I hope, the ESC I bought (also Team Corally stock 185) will be as good.

I guess time will tell.

I am starting to doubt my "lifechoices". 🤣

I have had the TC torox 135 in my syncro since day one and its survived storms and puddles you can lose a dog in plus been in a syncro that has been crashed more times than any other of my rc cars and it is still ticking along, fan takes a while to get going but it gets going 😅 .

Hoi KeeCie,

My asuga is also a roller build, great car and seems indestructible

For the best price (new) don't look in NL, but Germany. Berlinski generally has the best offers for TC. Asuga roller is now €366
Also stock and shipping is often faster than dutch hobbyshops.

my specs:
- Yipin 55kg servo (i prefer these above the AK version, both being brushless and fast, the 55kg version has helical gears which add some hidden specs which i cant really explain, just make me corner around my track much easier than any other servo i've tried)
- Hobbywing 8BL150G2 ESC + surpass 4274 2000kv (cheapest solid option aside from maybe XC)

Thanks, starting to regret my ak70 servo and the other electronics are stock stuff. Should be good.

Yeah I wish the rollers were a bit cheaper. Going for budget.

People, people, Metz is going to sell the Asuga roller for 280 euro. For now it is sold out. But should I buy it?
