I have their 4292 1780kv motor. Performs great.; several in our group run them. Rocket/Surpass motors are great value for money.
Their esc’s don’t have a good reputation though.
I’d look at weight, a 1/5 Xmaxx is significantly lighter than a 1/5 Losi 5ive for example. The first one performs great with a 4985 motor, for the latter I’d probably go bigger.
For a more budget friendly build I’d go for a XC esc and a Rocket motor. For a bit more I’do go for a Hobbywing combo.

What’s the chassis? 6s or 8s rig?
As already mentioned the 4985 is pretty good in a lightweight TRX chassis, but my v1 Kraton 8s was quite anemic out of the box with a 4985 in it. I scored a v2 Firma 160/1100 combo (take-offs) for the Kraton. Much improved performance, as an added bonus, I bought. $35 MM for my Xmaxx off amazon and now use the Firma 4985 from the Kraton in my Xmaxx. It sure feels stronger than the TRX 4985.

Here’s a nice price on a 1/5 sized motor.

Anyone have any experience with this brand and or more specifically this motor? (1100kv)

I have a max6 and 4990 1650kv. From what ive read/viewed most 1/5 are to heavy for the 4990. Im trying to land under the $1.1k rtr price. I've come across several new or used once rollers around 500 600... ideas?
That still a 49xx motor your looking at why not look at the 56xx size motors for 1/5 just little more expensive here’s the surpass motor comes in various kv or motor from an rc breakers like jennys rc Kraton 8s motor

I just found this on AliExpress: £255.59 | Surpass Hobby Rocket 5692 56112 4-Poles 8.0mm Shaft Brushless Motor For 1/5 Rc Car Monster Truck Off Road On Road Buggy

If Traxxas changed their name to Traxxics or plasxxas or 💩. They'd probably double if not pentuple their revenue 🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😂😂 (sledge and xrt excluded due to looking sexy)

So I'm fixed on the 1/5 Notorious @KnowAir
Also I should inform you and everyone that when I buy something the newest version drops the next day lol

The Arrma 8s rigs run well on the v2 electronics IMO, but many want more than that. In which case I would definitely go larger (longer) than a 5687. If you want it to have the power to weight ratio of a healthy 6s rig, go 12s in the big girl, just know that it will shred stock drive parts if ya do.
I’m more tame with my stuff, stock is usually enough for me.
Yeah, I’ll never mount a defense for TRX, they don’t need or deserve it IMO. I own quite a few, some are great, some are just money pits..

Im happy with stock as well. My tinker times are extremely seldom. So I try to have absolutely everything the moment I decide to sit down and build. I greatly appreciate the help as always!

I have a 1900kv Surpass Taurus 4274 V2 motor in my Shiroi and it's been good so far.

Hobbystar motors are identical to some Surpass motors but are cheaper. I went with a 580Kv Hobbystar 56112 from RC Juice and an XC E5 Pro 250A for my 12S Baja 5B. I've gotten 58mph out of it and have room for a larger pinion but I'm not sure my sphincter can handle it because a 58mph 30lb land missile is already terrifying enough.

Also, XC ESCs are excellent better than Hobbywing and less expensive as well. Now that they have an Amazon store with prime shipping there's no excuse to skip them anymore.

Im so happy you used "sphincter" 🤣🤣🤣
You 🤣😂🤘🤘

XC? That the brand name? How does the motor treat the Shiroi? Better then the kuron? Well probably since higher amp esc and lower kv... I think... sphincter!

The Shiroi is just as heavy as a Mojave 6s.
A 4990 motor could do very well in that car.
It's just that the Shiroi is not as stable at 6s speeds as the Mojave is. Multiple videos have shown that. So i run it on 4s with the Surpass Rocket 4292.

Your watching the wrong vids lol, stock setup out the box the my can be lively but just lower it a bit & they stable handle 6s no problems.

It's the OEM for Mad Components Madmax ESCs, they are the original manufacturer and have stated selling them direct to consumers.

XC's main business seems to be industrial robotics, medical, and industrial UAV ESCs, I have no idea why they got into car ESCs there must be enough money in it to warrant their attention.

EVERY PENNY COUNTS! I cant wait to start printing parts and stuff I've been working on!

I don’t disagree that the Shiroi handles 6s just fine, though I understand why some feel it’s just too much. All depends on how/where used I think. I mean many consider the Arrma Senton 6s as the best SCT truck and it’s considerably shorter in wheelbase than even the Shiroi, definitely a handful to drive on 6s.
