Finally did something. It's ugly. Shameful looking. Completely unappealing. I need some thin zip ties, and it won't look quite so bad.
However, until I get some zip ties thin enough to fit in the fan screw holes...
My overheating issue is much better. I'm just not proud of the solution.
I won't win any beauty contests.
40mm server fan, strapped to the chassis brace that runs diagonally to the body post holes and shock tower.
I wanted a quick and dirty adhesive method to see if it improved ESC temperatures, which have been way too high, even though I geared down to a 11 tooth pinion.
I still heat up to 185 degrees in 10 minutes, but it only takes a minute of not driving to cool down by 30 degrees. My motor doesn't get hot at all (40mm server fan cooling it too), so I'm not really sure what my issue is.
I've also been struggling to keep the pins in my hex hubs (I think that's what they're called)
I got a new set of hex hubs, new pins and new grub screws. All 4 were loose (just the pin loose, the grub screw was still in place) after one run. This time, before I went out today, I (probably overkill) put in a new pin, new grub screw, and I cleaned out the area in the drive shaft\cup where the grub screw goes (picture 3 indicates the piece where the grub screw goes into) really well with a paper towel dipped in 70% isopropyl alcohol.
I hope that works, because with all parts being brand new (hex hubs, grub screws, and hex hub pins) and the grub screws being still in place, I can't think of why the pins would keep falling out.
Anyway, just thought I'd share this in case it helps anyone else.
