I agree with you. There is someone in his camp that is clearly bitter toward's TC specifically.. a shame IMO, because TC has a solid product. I feel like the TC rigs are more capable from a racing/handling perspective than a TRX, which KT's crew love so much. For me, the TRX products seem to deteriorate so quickly in general. They tend to develop a lot of slop pretty much everywhere, gears, steering, suspension.. then there's the price. Simply more expensive than anything outside of a pedigree caliber race rig like Tekno, Mugen, Xray and such. For a basher, they're simply overpriced IMO. I will however give TRX some props for the Sledge, yes, it's too much money IMO, but it is a pretty fine driving RC overall. My brother has one. The E revo 2.0 drives quite well also.Haha yeah he's not too bad. I'd watch him just for the entertainment, but I wouldn't base my buying decisions based or aided on the outcome of his videos. There's other more technical youtubers for that kind of stuff.
He has achieved a lot in life and that's probably why he has a nice and steady stream of haters. At the end of the day, he's good for the hobby! Well, debatable I know because some people might watch him and get into the hobby thinking RC cars are made to be sent of off ramps at skateparks and when they break on the first jump they get frustrated and leave. However, any publicity is good publicity.
That been said, he (and his friends) seem to have something against Team Corally, very unfair. Team Corally deserves high praises and it has all the necessary potential and products to take on the bigger fish.
Absolutely..any time someone is successful, someones's bound to copy it.RC Youtube channels just seems to copy-cat Kevin Talbot. I can think of at least three RC channels which are pretty much a carbon copy of Talbot's style, even the same fonts and face expressions on thumbnails. So if people are copying him, he must be doing something right.
I just wish people would try something unique than copy him.
I like RCDude, Rich Duperbash, 3 Sons RC, and similar channels. Even though Rich Duperbash and RCDude are similar style.
Me either..The guy is a troll that would go around and harass smaller RC YouTube channels.. He runs a trolling Facebook group and if anyone disagrees with him he sends his Facebook group trolls to their channel to harass them ..it was going on for years.. lately he stopped doing it i guess.. Also the treatment of his former best friend Pat is disgusting..He used Pat and then threw him away when pat started to have medical problems.. Pat was his RC mechanic for years.. He taught Kevin pretty much everything he knows about RCI'll go ahead and be the skunk at the garden party...
... can't stand him! Lol
Any explanation? I get that KT is marmite to the RC community, but surely you'd have your reasons?I'll go ahead and be the skunk at the garden party...
... can't stand him! Lol
I remember that Saga. KT explained that Pat had been telling other well known YouTube channels that Kev was treating him unfairly. This resulted in some heat for KT from fans from the 'other' channel and a drop in views/subscribers.Me either..The guy is a troll that would go around and harass smaller RC YouTube channels.. I agree that KT is OTT! That's pretty much the whole thing with his channel for the most part. The fact that there is a KT discussion in this forum says enough . Oh i watched some of his posts and i cant watch it to long. Really over the top, its annoying.
Any explanation? I get that KT is marmite to the RC community, but surely you'd have your reasons?
I guess I'm harsh. I can't stand to see idiots send rc,s into the air just to get views and likes. There purposely destroying rc,s. Most don't even bother putting the stickers on them..they don't show true life rc driving and make us rc users look stupid. Just my opinion though. I also think corally has a long way to go to.make a good basher. There new and it's a learning curve after allRC Youtube channels just seems to copy-cat Kevin Talbot. Off the back of this, when Kev talked to Pat, Pat denied having said anything to anyone.
KT had some hate from a prominent RC channel from across the pond and felt the need to put out a lengthy video explaining everything.
I watched this video and an entirely different side of Kev was evident. To me, his explanation and sadness about the whole thing seemed 100% genuine.
Allegedly., Pat had been rocking up un-announced at Kev's home and persistently knocking on the door. Interfering with recording sessions etc - basically being too pushy.
Obviously Kev's explanation video touched on some personal issues that Pat was experiencing and Kev reeled off all the stuff that he'd done to try and help Pat, including assistance with setting up his own channel. KT's portrayal of Pat was that of a jobless, aimless individual with no motivation who then went on to 'betray him' by slandering him to other channels, then lying about it after the fact.
Obviously, there was a line past which Kev resolutely said 'no more'.
Not knowing either one of them personally, it's very difficult to know exactly what went on. However, around the same time, Claire's RC channel came to back KT'up and subsequently, KT's videos showed a lot more of Claire and her partner, along with KT's other associates. Pat was no more.
The 'hate' for Kev IMO has less to do with these tales and more to do with his utter disregard for rigs that regular folk can't afford to break!
Kev's DILLIGAF persona is a front, a character - a work of fiction - carefully and intentionally honed for his YouTube videos.
'This Week At Talbot's Shop' and his work on the 1:1 monster truck gives people a better idea of what Kev is all about. Outside of the videos, Kev (apparently) is quite happy with his own company.
His achievements are significant and to have got there off the back of stuff we all like brings out the green eyed monster in some of us. Human nature, I'm afraid.
I hear you. As a former racer, I totally look after my kit. The concept of breaking stuff deliberately makes my blood run cold.I find him incredibly annoying and disrespectful. I don't like his approach - the way he throws everything around and the way he deliberately destroys things just to be a tool and for the novelty of it. I get that a lot of people find him entertaining but he totally turns me off. I can't watch 2 seconds of his videos. But that's fine he doesn't need my support lol.
The irony is that very often KT's videos have headlines that read 'Idiot vs Truck' or whatever.I guess I'm harsh. I can't stand to see idiots send rc,s into the air just to get views and likes. There purposely destroying rc,s. Most don't even bother putting the stickers on them..they don't show true life rc driving and make us rc users look stupid. Just my opinion though. Hmmm. I'm not so sure. I think Pat might have thought he was some sort of business 'partner' but usually for that, there's some element of investment.I can tell you exactly what went on with Kevin and Pat without even knowing the details of the story.
Basically never try to turn friends into business partners.
Yeah I have to agree with everything you've said! They're certainly NOT toys, and I teach that to my 3 and 7 year-olds as I teach them about the hobby. Some times when I'm out driving and a kid comes along and asks me if he can have a go at my 1/8 scale I always say, I'm sorry no, this is not a toy and it could cause serious harm. It's different if I'm with a 1/12 or 1/14 scale, and even then I would limit the throttle to at least 50% before handing over the remote.I've noticed KT's new video having visited a Heli forum to view comments about him.
A common theme for Kev is to call out any comments that he doesn't subscribe to 'as opinions' and that 'nobody cares about your opinion'.
Yet somewhat contradictarily, is happy to care about comments that are favourable opinions.
You see in my mind, you can't have it both ways.
The vaguely irritating thing about that is that it's a discussion forum, where people are invited to share their opinions. Kev expresses his views on his channel, yet effectively admonishes anyone making theirs if it in some way conflicts with his own opinion.
People that don't like his videos, Kev often describes as 'Narcissistic'.
KT definitely enjoys winding people up by calling 'models', 'toys'. In his mind, if people take their hobby seriously, there's something 'narcissistic' about them as well!
My interpretation of what a toy is:
something specifically designed for children to play with, designed to be safe and durable without any special handling or adult supervision required.
I'm not going to get into what would be classed as an adult toy here!
Definition of model:
A three-dimensional representation, esp. on a small scale, of a person or thing or of a projected or existing structure; esp.
Note the definition makes no reference to any operational requirement. Static models for example would be quite different to the definition of a toy.
The working models we enjoy building, maintaining, repairing etc could be classed as things that adults 'play with', but if I play with a pussy, ahem.. I mean cat, does that make it a toy? Discuss!
KT will no doubt have hours of fun with his 1:1 monster truck. Loosely, we could argue that adult 'recreational items' such as Sports Cars, Yachts, Sound Systems etc are 'toys'.
Someone that attends regional, national or even international race meetings with their RC cars probably won't refer to their machines as 'toys', because without exception, they would describe their endeavours as a 'sport'.
There are plenty of other examples of where we could loosely call something a new 'toy' - if it's part of your hobby or sport. But if you're a photographer, is a camera a toy? If you do clay pigeon shooting, is a new shotgun a toy?
We might refer to things as 'toys' but I don't think it changes the actual definitions of things, no matter how often we use the term - or how much fun it is winding people up!
