I’m not super sure about that little tray to hold a fan vertically so I opted to try this out. What are you guys doing to keep this nasty thing cool?

That’s awesome… where did you get the fan cover, I was literally just sitting here thinking about how to protect the fan some.
Amazon. Just search 40mm or 30mm ran cover, depending on the fan size.

On my arrma rigs with server fans, I have a cover like that and then wrapped some stainless steel mesh screen.

Cheap Arrma fan. My ESC is getting hotter now on 15T and the Kaiju 3.8s, what y'all using to cool this small ESC?
Have you had it go into thermal shutdown yet? I’m not as worried about the esc as I am the motor. At least the esc has some protection. I guess if it starts cutting out I’ll have to look at better cooling options. But I doubt that will even show it’s nasty face until summer. It’s too cold around here.

Also when you say 3.8 are you referencing the wheel size or is that the O.D. of the tires?

It was possible it was LVC but I'm not sure. Seen temps in the 160s this morning when It was 50 deg here.

Ya know what, I don't have a damn clue. Seller said similar to MX38s, but lighter.
There's are 1/4 taller at 5.5" and 1/4" wider at 3".

Reason I was wondering I ordered a set that are 5.9” OD and 3.2 wide. Not sure the diameter of the wheel or the offset so I just have my fingers crossed they fit with the “wide” conversion.

I have put a 30mm fan in that special tray behind the motor just some days ago. Although it even is a high-speed fan I am not sure how effective it really is. Did install it because I replaced the stock tyres (134mm) by DBoots Backflip LP3.8 (154mm) - that did put the top speed from about 70km/h to about 80km/h and now it does wheelies as well, but (as expected) the motor did get hot, too.

The fan is cooling down the motor a little (from approx. 65 deg.C to somewhere above 55 deg.C) at the quite low temperatures (10 deg.C) outside now. But I guess for summer when temperatures are rising I will go for a fan directly mounted at the motor - like one of the nice examples in the postings above.

However, the mounting itself is very easily done (I only used one screw to keep it in place, then you don't have to disassemble anything) - here's a picture of it:

Also I did put a little switch on the tower to have the option to switch it on or off manually:

Right, I did forget, you did order the Corally fan-holder .... hmmm, that would be a nice option too
Did you had a chance already to test how effective it is in cooling down the motor?

Tested it but didn't keep track of de temperature. 1 thing i know for sure that it sounds like a yet engine with the 30 mm Corally fan (red one) 🚀

Wonder if putting some holes in the skirt to allow some pass through air would improve those numbers.

Btw if You get up to 25 post you could possibly win a Kronos and be able to tinker with that as well!
Whoring everywhere for that freebie!🤣

I just did this on mine.

Haven't had a good chance to test it because this happened 3-4 min into the pack...

Tried one of the fans mentioned here or somewhere else, it was useless. Barely moved any air.
