How to clean CVD driveshafts..
Cleaning and maintenance of axles pay huge dividends compared to the simplicity and time requirement of the task.
Follow these simple steps:
Step 1: Remove the pin retainer clip
Step 2: Push out the cross-pin
Step 3: Disassemble completely and clean parts
Step 4: Lubricate with grease
Step 5: Reassemble and install
Bash on, friends!

Now we have to argue over grease or a dry film lubricant. 😆
I was going to say the same thing! I'd argue for completely dry! The few times I tried any sort of lubrication on the CVDs it got messy real quick. Interesting they do recommend it though.

Yeah 🤔 I wonder why they don't make these..??
1/5 RC's do have 'm but is a pita to get 'm on (had a Baja) and still a lot of dirt gets in them. And they don't last very long.

CV boots have to be thick and really tight on the axles to not let the dirt in. They also need something to grab on.
On the arms 1/8 scale axles and outdrives are too small for this to work properly. And with all the big jumps and arm flexing they'll be ripped apart in no time. Some 1/8's have on the center drive shafts, they don't move up and down but still won't last very long.

I ran Hemistorm boots on my Baja 5B-SS. Only boots that were worth a damn.

Would be more convincing if the cvd had actual dirt or mud on it to begin with?
I don't even bother.. I run them dry. I can live with the occasional squeaks. Quality cvds are hardened steel, no need for lubes in my experience. When they wear or break, I get new ones.
Same philosophy with the shocks, never understood the booties..when the shocks get dirty I let them dry(if wet), brush em off with a plastic brush, good to go. To each their own.✌
