Forgive my ignorance. I know y'all are swapping pinions tires, etc... as I have and are still basically coming up short. With that said I bought a Max8 EZRUN combo and am now wondering if I should have gone another direction.
My rig is currently running a wide hub conversion with Redcat Kaiju wheels and a 15T pinion. Mid air rotation is still sluggish but improved, she wheelies but can't sustain it. This thing seems to be too heavy for the stock power system for doing doubles and such.
I bench tested the Max8 with a 2600kv motor and the motor is geting much hotter than the stock system under no load on 3 and 4s. Is it because the ESC is allowing more power to the motor or is it because the motor is a higher KV? ( the motors shipping box was all busted up inside but I don’t think its damaged) so I suspect this heat is normal ( still can touch it without a burn).
I'm curious about running a larger pinion size with this motor than the stock 13T pinion like we all had on the stock system. Would it even be necessary ( I know, try it and see). This system should get to higher RPMs, correct so 13T may be equivalent to say ...a 15T pinion?
Given the KV is a tad high for this weight, ( so I've been told) would it be better to swap in a lower KV motor, such as the Kuron 825, or just change out the bullet connectors on the 725 motor? Seems the wiring in the 725 would be underrated for the Max8, 12GA vs 10 GA.
I can still return this to Amazon because it theoretically hasn't been used. Should I just get the Kuron 825 (from JRC) and a Max8 ESC, the price would be about the same, but no extra motor from the EZRUN kit.
Or just keep going up in pinion size , throw in a set of BF LPs and melt this thing down?
