Hi everyone,

Been looking at the 2021 xtr in my local hobby shop and the quality of this truck blew me away, I was very impressed..

The 2021 is on sale at an attractive price and the 2022 isn't yet available, would it be worth grabbing the 2021 or waiting for the 2022??
I don't mind waiting if its worth it..

Cheers Gaz

What do you plan to do with it?

If you are going to be doing big jumps, I’d wait for the 2022.

If you want to keep the jumps to a reasonable size and mainly ripping around on the ground the 2021 is good and can be upgraded but the difference in cost will probably be more than the cost difference between the two.

I have both and plan to use the ‘22 for bigger jumps and such and the ‘21 for more bash racing and smaller jumps (but the ‘22 is just as effective bash racing too)

How long is the wait for the 2022 for you?

Hi, thanks for the reply!

No big sends or skate park for this, I've got the big rock which is my jump basher..
That said it'll be general bashing small jumps and ripping around mainly, kids will use it as well..

The 2021 is less than £300. Now, the 2022 is over £400 and not available until March by the looks of things, I might be able to source one sooner but I'm not in a mad rush.

I really want to build my own truck even if its just adding the electrics..

Cheers Gaz

For the price the xtr 2021 is now, it’s a good piece of kit for the money. The weak steering blocks will be replaced for the price of the postage to the hd ones by team corally on there website under warranty. Put on Hd shock ends and a chassis brace and it will still take some serious abuse !!!

Thanks! That's just what I wanted to hear 👌 the price seems great for the quality of parts used..

Cheers

My ones a 2021. I have the brace, the hd steering blocks, hard springs and thicker pistons in shocks.
The only issues I have had is the standard shock ends snap. I ordered hd ones which should arrive this week. And the steering rod snap. The previous owner put arrma steering rod ends on it. The metal rod snapped before the plastic steering end broke.
I ripped the wing off also but it was bad piloting on my part ✈️
Apart from that it’s been brilliant. I have launched it of the big ramps at the local bmx track, landed all ways and been fine. Turn it back on its wheels and launch it again 😂 I love my xtr 👍

Just been watching a couple of you tube clips and man the 2022 takes a pounding! I definitely don't jump mine that high or far 🤣
Yours is close to being a 2022 now with the extra work you've done, seems like I wouldn't be dissatisfied with either!

What electronics are you running? The stock esc and 825 motor seems good, also been eying up the max 8 and max 6 combo..?

I think I'm swaying towards the 2022 version, the upgrades seem well worth the £100 difference in price and I really don't mind the wait, I've got other cars to keep me entertained for now 🤣
Man this hobby is expensive 🤣

Right on, I agree completely with @Hurricane 👍
The list price hasn't gone up by much for the '22,
There is easily a couple hundred dollars in upgrades on the '22 if one were to buy the parts from TC.

The TC motor/esc pretty much is a max8 combo in a different wrapper.. if you can score the TC electrics from a kit breaker, it's worth it, otherwise I'd go max8 combo as it is cheaper.
Of course the max6 combo is 8s capable but personally I can't see a use for it.

Thanks for the reply! Yeah tbh I'm going to wait for the 2022, I'll only end up getting the upgraded parts anyway🤣
Thanks for the info I've heard good things regarding the stock tc esc and motor so will see which is priced better when I come to buy them👍

I'm waiting on JRC to start stripping out the '22, so I can hopefully get some affordable upgrades..as are others I'll bet😎

i'm a bit jealous of you actually being that close to JRC, some damn fine prices for sure, Ted is resourceful i'll bet he will have those 2022's soon.

No doubt, between JRC and some of the other ebay kit breakers, I have saved a ton.
Without them, I really couldn't have built the collection of rigs I have👌

Heh, I have 3 of the Corally ESC/motor combos sitting in boxes waiting to be installed in cars, bought them before people know what was what (hey I told everyone like a year ago they were crazy fast!).

Good for my man👍 and right you are! I scored 2 sets last year before the price went up😁
Honestly I don't think I could have afforded to build out the rigs I did without kit breakers like JRC.

@razorrc edit: Good for you my man👍

Did some research yesterday and can't seem to find when the 2022 will be available in the UK. The skeeter is also not available yet with no announcements I can see 🤷‍♂ might be a bit of a wait for me..

Time to look into electronics, seems the TC combo is more expensive than HW max 8 combos..

TC electrics are quite expensive at retail prices, while I do think they're good, they are overpriced just like pretty much all rtr electronics. Ever looked at the prices for TRX electronics? 🤮
Hobbywing is my choice, I'm a price driven buyer...aka cheapskate 🤣

They're expensive, actually dearer for TC esc and motor than HW max 8 combo.. doesn't make any sense to me🤷‍♂️
Nothing wrong with watching your money 😉
