Hello all,

I think I want to buy a new RC.
But which one to get? See the title.

As the autumn/black friday-ish has started a bit. The prices are high, but looking good.

Shiroi = 639 rcspeedshop.nl
Mojave V3 = 649 toemen.nl
Maxx Slash = 699 rcspeedshop.nl

I can spend my eurosšŸ’µšŸ’µ only once, I think I'm not the only one. šŸ˜…

What would you guys pick?

I also asked Gemini, and it said Mojave 1, Slash 2 and Shiroi 3.

I have v2 Mojo 6s EXB, my brother has Maxx Slash, no Shiroi experience. The Mojo and Slash are almost exactly the same size, think the Shiroi has slightly shorter wheelbase. Maybe more ā€œsportyā€? IDK. Both take a beating the Maxx is surprisingly quick on 4s, Mojo not as lively. Think the Mojo is heavier, not sure.
It depends on what you want out of it I think. The Mojo is more tunable perhaps since it has adjustable turnbuckles. Corally takes the cake for motor/esc combo I think, but V3 Arrma is really good too. Mojo probably has the best tires stock.

My Maxx Slash. I paid twice what it's worth and sold it for half what I paid for it.
Of what's left on your list I think the Corally will handle better and I think it's a tougher truck. The Arrma will have more aftermarket support. Build your Arrma your way.

The EXB is a tough pill and the Maxx reasonable priced I guess. The aftermarket of Traxxas is top notch.
The pimp factor of Traxxas is awesome, Arrma has the normal upgrades/spares as is Tram Corally.

Hopefully prices will drop more coming weeks.

Gemini don’t know sh$t & that order is backwards lol

This is a corally group so that’s where my vote would go, don’t think I saw a bad review of the shiroi even kev talbot give it praise said it was probably best in category an he traxxas fan boy. But if want to upgrade arrma traxxas probably have more options.

I should point out that we, my brother and I, tend to leave things stock. Only upgrade what breaks.
His Maxx Slash doesn’t have a lot of runs on it compared with my Mojo. He does crash quite a bit though.
The V3 EXB is a tough pill at $850 or whatever it costs here in the USA. I bought my EXB roller back in 21 for $430 and built it with takeoff electronics for pretty cheap, maybe $600.
The Slash is almost undrivable on 6s, I imagine the Shiroi is too. Sure, in wide open spaces they are fine on 6s, but we run on a track. 6s is silly, guaranteed breakage.
No doubt Arrma and TRX have more aftermarket support here in the US.
I still want a Shiroi, can’t say the Maxx Slash really has my attention. The electronics are easily the worst of the 3.

I forgot to mention that the V3 Mojo looks seriously top heavy with the added inner cage.. for my money, Shiroi all the way.

I’ve got all 3 (but earlier Mojo EXB) in my opinion they are all quite different but the same, being as they are all SCT’s they’re all tough but all have weaknesses in my opinion..
Shiroi.. the body, bumpers and body posts aren’t the greatest but the truck overall is nuts and mega tough, run mine on 4s as 6s is just too much.!!
Mojave.. I hate to use this quote, but this thing is Arrma tough, for me I constantly broke body mounts until they upgraded them, now I break them a lot less🤣 I run mine on a Castle mmx8s system only in 6s and I drive it like I stole it, this thing gets some serious abuse.!!
MaxxSlash.. for me it’s always been overpriced for what it is, but what it is, is insane.!! Run mine only on 6s and it’s just stupid fun, drive it like I stole it, has had the least breakages of the three (last week was biggest breakage since owning, destroyed pinion and spur) in my opinion the overall build is easily the toughest of the three, mine is bone stock and I wouldn’t modify it as I think it’s just right straight out the box.!!

On a side note, everyone always says the Arrma’s are the best due to all the upgrades you can get, but let’s be honest if it was great out the box you wouldn’t need all the upgrades.!!
Traxxas has a lot of their own upgrades but I believe they are just there to relieve you of your money and are just not needed.!!
And lastly the Corally’s, they too have their own upgrades but in my opinion are not needed either they are just bling ( the best kind of bling, true hop ups)

Over the years I have gathered a lot of rigs from many many brands and what I’ve learnt is Arrma’s are not tough 🤣 I’ve wasted so much money on Arrma’s trying to right their wrongs……

So back to the original post, buy the Shiroi or Slash.!!

That is a very elaborate answer, thanks for the insight.
Yes, Traxxas and Arrma have parts in bulk.
I am a Dutchie, so parts is not a real problem for TC.
I am trying to end my buying streak. But it is soooooo hard and so expensive. I do want a SCT to complete my "fleet" ( Asuga and Kagama 6S).

I think you already know the answer.. Shiroi. You already have 2 TC 6s rigs, a lot of the parts are similar, diffs, shocks (pistons/seals/caps), rod ends, bearings.. it's easier to have spares of them on hand when they all use the same parts. Plus TC is easily accessible to you.

I know you speak the truth and run your rigs hard. I haven't been disappointed by many RC's I've bought or been gifted over the last 5 or 6 years. Arrma has been solid for me, not perfect, I don't like their diffs, but I can live with them. TRX has been hit or miss, the Xmaxx and 1/10 3s rigs have been a blast to own. The UDR and E Revo 2.0 have been more frustration than joy. I only own one TC, Kronos XTR. It's been overall good. Shocks and plastics are my biggest complaints, not crazy for the center diff offset either. It seems to cause accelerated wear of the shafts/cups. My brother has a Kronos XP and an Asuga.
He doesn't like the Kronos, says it breaks too easily. I say he crashes too much.. LOL. However, I am impressed (him too) with the Asuga, it, seems to be well designed. All the TC seem to handle really well. Better than the Arrma equivalents. Traxxas is somewhere in the middle. Love the 1/10 Slash 4x4! Got it for free, that helps, but it's an XL-5 with TRX 3s brushless combo in it and it's just good cheap fun. Still has the plastic camber and steer links on it even. I'm a fan of the TRX 1/10 3s line overall.

The Shiroi has proven to be almost indestructible.
When I have the opportunity, i meet up with Rotauq, Sandracer and the others in their group to run all Shirois on a track. They handle great and take it all.
When i run by myself, i don't have a track and i found the Mojave is doing better in random types of terrain, because of its size and weight. That thing is awesome to drive as well. Not as nimble as a Shiroi, but its ride is certainly smoother.
I do agree with Knowair. The Arrma diffs are nowhere near as reliable as the TC's.
I seem to have found a cure for it by putting GP6 and Typhon 6s diffs in the Mojaves and Fireteam. I definitely have less problems with those diffs on Max6 power levels. However, using these diffs messes with the overall gear ratio. It requires running very small pinions.
The Corally diffs are great. I have 6 Corally trucks with only one broken sun gear pin so far. Their composite diff housings are so much better than Arrma's. All my Arrma trucks have aluminium diff housings now, my TC's don't need them.
Corally shocks are not nearly as good as the Arrma shocks. They leak, bend and can't handle the abuse. Except for the Spark and Radix, all my TC trucks have Arrma shocks on them.

I only have experience with a Mojave EXB (the previous version) and the Shiroi.
The Mojo is a little bit bigger, 1/7 vs 1/8 for the Shiroi. Both a great, but the Shiroi gets my vote.
In our group we currently have 6 Shiroi’s and we track/bash them quite hard bitting each other and track posts. The body is the weakest part, but same goes for the Mojo body. Part of the SCT body design. So strengthen your SCT, whichever one you get, before you run it.
We all have the Shiroi roller version, all of us running on 4s, ranging from stock TC ESC/motor, Max6/Rocket 4092, Castle, Max8 combo. All geared up to compensate for running ā€˜only’ 4s of coursešŸ˜‰. TC motor/esc are best-in-class and don’t need upgrading BTW.

So Shiroi roller or RTR gets my vote.

Edit: @KnowAir mentioned the Mojo has better tires. I fully agree. The stock TC ones a too soft to my liking and the tires showed cracks after serious crashing, ehh I mean bashingšŸ˜„. I (and several others in the group) replaced them with 1/7 wheel/tires for the Mojo. Those are a bit firmer, so handle more abuse and I think they look a little bit better too.

Good info! I have to agree on TC diffs and housings, I haven’t touched the front or rear on my Kronos in 5 years. Center diff I replaced once, center shafts as well.
I wonder if running a lower kv motor in the Arrma with buggy diffs might be the ticket? I generally try and avoid small pinions because they wear quickly.

What do you mean with buggy diffs?

Disregard, Felony/Infraction 6s diffs.. i’m not familiar with all the diff models from Arrma. I did buy a complete v5 BLX diff from Jenny’s once, lasted a season. Done with those. LOL.
I should have grabbed TC 6s diffs when Jenny’s had them. Pretty confident they could work in an Arrma gear box. Oh well.
After running with my brother on Sunday against his Asuga I’m getting the itch to build my own Arrma rendition again. K6 EXB doesn’t get much use by me, maybe I’ll buy the Mojo parts to convert it to Typhon XL again.
Nothing against an Asuga, besides the money it costs to buy one, just don’t have it.

Could also mean bad diffs.

So I need to find me a Shiroi roller.
Bad diffs? I don’t follow?
Whether you buy a Shiroi roller or RTR you get the same diffs, and the TC diffs are good. I understand why folks buy rollers, but when it comes to TC I would buy the RTR as that gets you a stout motor/esc combo IMO. The radio and steering servo are just average. IMO of course.

@KnowAir, @SirCrashALot said he drove his Mojave with Typhon diffs, you tried to emphasize that by asking driving with buggy diffs. @Sandracer_NL asked what that meant. You reiterated the Mojave and Typhon diffs. And I thought it meant bad as in pc buggy.... šŸ˜…šŸ˜…šŸ¤£šŸ¤£ Phew .

I already got a spare servo and receiver. Just need the car, motor, esc part.
I am calculating now and making an application letter for the wife (j/k).
