The Radiomaster MT-12 though is an incredible value the hardware is comparable to a futaba surface radio. However MAKE SURE you update the ELRS radio module and your receivers to the latest ELRS firmware it ships with v3.1 which has a rare but dangerous bug with PWM receivers.

Multi Protocol Module might be able to use some of your existing receivers and can use cheap flysky surface receivers. Whichever internal radio module you have you can use the external bay for a module for the other.

MT12 runs on EdgeTX and uses a radio module with it's own configuration and it's setup and updates are a little complex compared to other radios. You may want to look at options from Flysky and Radiolink if you just want something that you can take out of the box and use and where you just stick a USB cable in and flash it for updates.

Awesome I was looking at another brand but I want simple so much time I spend programming for jets just don’t want really complex

That RC6GS is a good radio, so is the Flysky GT5. I bought a DumboRC DDF-350 and it has everything I need. Cheap, works with the cheap DumboRC receivers (also with the gyro👍), good range, up to 10 RC models, independent channel adjustment, and a lot of options. Several in our group use it now. The only ‘thing’ is that name though😄.

I don't really need all the programming and EdgeTX is a steep learning curve though I am already familiar with it from air radios. Also as I said earlier the ELRS version ships with ELRS firmware V3.1 which has a nasty bug in PWM receivers and should be updated to V3.5 immediately.

That’s why the ones you suggested the MT12 seemed to best for me at this time. I’ve run Spektrum so long in planes is why I asked about them but reading reviews doesn’t seem like Spektrum is the buggy radio I am wanting.

To be clear the bug in ELRS v3.1 is not Radiomaster's fault, it affects all PWM ELRS receivers from any manufacturer. Radiomaster only makes hardware that runs open source software. Edge TX is the open source operating system that the transmitter runs and Express LRS is the open source radio protocol that the radio module in the MT12 and the receivers use (assuming you didn't get the multiprotocol module version which is different open source project). So they are two seperate things. Both Edge TX and the radio module and recievers have to be updated seperatly. The Express LRS radio module can be updated through a menu in Edge TX though.

Just update the radio module and recievers to Express LRS V3.51 and you won't have any problems.

If you are not familliar with Edge TX then there will be a learning curve, it uses an input -> mixer -> output method of doing things. The MT12 does come with a basic car model setup that will help get you started though.

However I don't need anything more that the car model that shipped with the radio plus the disarming switched detailed in the first video. If you want to add expo to a channel that is done on the edit page for each input.

Ok so if you were to choose between the 2 which is your ideal so called do it all. I’d like to stay $150 below on a radio

"do it all" would be the MT12 it is infinitely programmable and also has excellent hardware quality and you can get any part for it if you break it. BUT, EdgeTX can be confusing for some people. The other options are less expensive but more "traditional" in their setup. The MT12 is Linux while the other options are Windows. Any of the other options are good if you just want something you can "just use". I think I would recommend the Radiolink over the Flysky for slightly better hardware.

If you choose the MT12 and are unfamiliar with EdgeTX be prepared for a learning curve.

Also for updating the firmware on the recievers just use the wifi mode I could never get USB to work, and use random.org to generate a 32 character bind phrase don't use real words (a bind phrase is what identifies your recievers and radio module to each other, if somone else has the same bind code the two transmitters will conflict)

For updating the radio module firmware you download the firmware file and stick it in the firmware folder on the
MT12's SD card and then update it from within EdgeTX.
 
I think the MT12 is what I should go with, just with your advise seems to be able to grow when I move to more custom things. I really appreciate the time everyone has given with suggestions tips etc. I’m so glad I joined this forum everyone so helpful friendly unlike a larger RC forum that I got treated like an idiot for asking a simple question. Honestly haven’t been back on that forum since, again thank you for the help

I cannot stress this enough, update the Express LRS module and receivers to the latest firmware, the bug with v3.1 is that it very rarely will lock you out for 10 seconds while holding the PWM channels ignoring failsafes until the watchdog realizes the receiver has frozen and reboots it. So if the car is doing 60mph when this happens it'll keep going till the reboot. If you get the Multiprotocol version instead it may allow you to keep your existing receivers (you'll need to check the list) Be aware that Spektrum air and Spectrum surface recievers are NOT compatable last time I checked the MPM module did not support Spektrum surface recievers but that may have changed (the MPM can theoreticly support it so it's just a firmware thing)
 
I still have the factory TC receivers I may add a gyro one at some point really depends on how much further I go into the ground side. If my eye continues to get worse flying will be a thing of the past unfortunately. I do have a club member who uses nothing but RadioMaster hopefully he can help me out if I have issues. Here’s from my accident September before last, another eye surgeon appt Tuesday then more brain scans. Trust me he careful around horses. Been around them since before I can remember just a freak accident happy to still be above ground

I could not find any information on what radio protocol Team Corally uses in their radios, the electronics in the radio (if not the entire radio shell and all) and receivers are likely sourced from outside but without knowing from where I can't say if the MPM module can talk to them. There are countless inexpensive proportional control systems available from chinese toy companies and no way to tell which it is without test equipment. Looking at the inside of the radio or receiver might give it away if they haven't made any changes to the PCB silkscreen and it has a company name or something.

If using existing receivers is a no-go then I'd say just go with Express LRS the Radiomaster 3 channel surface recievers are around $15 each and the 5 channel is $20.

That was the other side that I looked at are receiver availability and cost. Just seem to be tons of options available

That's quite a wallop. 😬 I do hope there's room for improvement in your sight. 🙏

I often come into contact with other people's horses, but they can be unpredictable and dangerous - especially if they don't know you or if there are fouls in the field.

Hopefully your condition can improve. Thoughts and karma are with you. 👊

Because I fly and do drones, I've always stayed away from pistol grip radios. I use a 3VCS at the moment on FASST. It's a beautifully responsive system with excellent range, but the receivers are about as plentiful as unicorn tears.

Reluctantly, I'm looking at this as my next radio. But it's a quality bit of kit.
 
The only holdup for me with the FlySky is the 6.5v BEC rating. They do offer several different fm’s, so maybe some are rated for more I’m not sure. I am currently feeding 8.4v to one and it’s taken it fine thus far. I’m running the venerable GT3b radio ($35) with GR3 receivers that can be had for $5 a piece from AliEx. Low expectations, LOL.

Thank ya about to actually head to another eye surgeon right now, hoping they can do something for me. Looks like I have some more parts arriving today, installed the TC 7075 steering rack in the Spark last night and have adjustable tie rod arms out for delivery but unfortunately both placed I ordered the lower HD shock ends from are still not arriving maybe tomorrow who knows anymore. I do get upset when I pay for 2 day shipping and here’s it’s been 6 days now. Here’s the arms and I did go down to a 15t pinion for the Spark
