Question regarding beadlock wheels \ tires. Does anyone here use them on bashers?
I have to re-glue my Badlands every 2 runs or so.
I slather BSI IC2000 over the small parts that come unglued, and even put E-6000 over the BSI glue.
This is because on my first 6s run, 3 of the new Badlands were coming off the rim, as much as 1/5 of the tire had come off the rim in the rear.
I go through so much adhesive it's probably going to be cheaper if I go with beadlocks.
Driving on asphalt was the worst, now I drive on large loose rocks and gravel.
Do beadlocks really hold the tires better on bashers ? I'm looking at J Concepts wheels and they're over a pound each, which is God awful for an already heavy truck... But if I gear down, maybe it won't be that bad. I'd probably break arms \ links more often, but I'm tired of gluing.
Anyone here run bead locks on bashers ?
Thanks in advance.

What's a beadlock please?

The orange rings on the wheels here are beadlocks. 10 bolts per wheel.

No glue = no thrown tyres.
Hey Horatio, ever see any mini pin type tyres in your region in say 190x90 or 100mm? I'm looking for beadlocks to run on my K8. Clay. I've run some GRP 1/6 buggy(glued), they are 180x70, a bit too narrow and fragile for the K8. Sidewalls tore out rather quickly, even cracked a wheel around the hex. Suprised about the cracked wheel as they are quite thick. The search continues..

Might be best to start over. Acetone in a bucket with lid. You can get it by the gallon from most hardware stores. It takes a day or two to completely disolve the glue. Whenever I have a set that won't stay glued, I start over with acetone. Most wheels, tires and foams are impervious to the acetone. They might swell a bit, the tires and foams, but after another day or so to dry will shrink back down to original size. Done it many times myself.
As to whether beadlocks hold any better, IDK. I haven't used very many sets of beadlocks.
I do have a set of Duratrax 1/5 SC Dinero beadlocks that have impressed me. I beat the hell out of them on my K8S and aside from them slipping once or twice, they are holding quite well. The fronts balloon quite a bit, looks funny cuz SCT tires always balloon unevenly in my experience. Grip isn't great on clay, hard compound rubber, but they are predictable.

Sorry bud - those are some big ass wheels. Very few people around here with RC cars, let alone big ones.

At one time, the local club had 120 members +. There's nothing like that now. 🫤🤷

Baja wheels and tyres are the closest I have to that, but they're on beadlocks. They're 170 x 80. I have knobbly Hostile MX and some original HPI dirt buster tyres. If that type of wheel fit your rig, they'd hold up better than what you're showing me here.

Gotcha. Yeah, the GRP's are 180x70mm. They market them as 1/6 buggy. I'm okay with the 180mm height, but 70mm is just too narrow for "truggy", ideally 110 or 120 would be to scale.
I'm looking at the beadlock stuff now. I do wonder if they're truly any tougher than the GRP's. They have a thicker outer sidewall, but still shredded. First 2 pics are GRP when shiny and new a couple months back. 3rd pic is Duratrax Dinero 1/5 beadlock. Okay, but compound too hard, no grip. Same as LouiseRC Viper SC.

Crickets round here for rc.. I'm sure there are clubs locally, but also likely only running 2wd 1/10.
No 1/8 or larger, that's for sure.

It's a shame isn't it?

The club I was chairman of grew to over 120 members and was affiliated. It formed part of 2 national rounds. I left the club due to other commitments and deployments etc, when I checked in on the club a few years later, it had relocated and was less accessible. It had about half the members. 🫤 Gutted.

It still exists though and I believe it's at the Pembrey Racing Circuit.

I decided to give some Rovans a shot. 190x65. For $85 a set, why not.
