Kagama Just shouting out a little Kagama love.

I bought a couple of Kagama’s about a year ago, one for one of my children and a second for myself. I figured this would be a good time to give my opinion, it’s been a year and about 30-35 packs of 4S and 6S, several bad crashes and days of fun!

Overall, I’m super impressed with Corally. Don’t get me wrong, you can break them and 6S is almost insane but overall, their quality, design and parts availability have been top great, imo (USA). (Ive been waiting on some Kraton parts for months). I’m running Tekno, Arrma, Sparko and Mugen rc’s pretty consistently at the moment and IMO, I believe Corally is right there with the rest of them.

I have had well over 30 packs run through the red Kagama at this point and I pound on this little guy pretty fiercely. In total I’ve broken the following.

Rear wing 1
Wing mount 2
Front arms 3 (oddly all front right)
Front shocks 2 (again front right)
1 servo

Not too much $$$ for the fun!

I’ve added the stiffeners all around and I’ve burned through 2 sets of bf lp’s and the stock tires but the belted Sweep Terrain Crushers and Belted BF’s seem to be the answer.

Beyond that, I check everything out pretty well about every 10 packs or when I crash badly, (pretty frequently as of late ) otherwise I just knock the dirt off and throw it on the shelf and the dang thing just keeps on going!

I like many brands and you can make arguments for many of them being great as many of them are great but I’m truly impressed with Corally.

May i know what are Belted BF tyres? How do you burn through tyres, may I ask? You run a lot on tarmac? I seem to melt the hex mounts from landing on brakes / throttle. (On my Arrma Notorious with normal BF tyres.)

That's a great long term review. The Kagama seems like a stronger version of the Kronos, which in its latter XTR version was already pretty durable by all accounts.

I'd have no qualms buying more Corally rigs - once I've worked through other must-haves on my list.

I'm looking forward to building a new Tekno, Mugen or Sparko when I have some spare time.

Perhaps Corally will bring out a Kagama XTR......

Sorry for not getting anything up on the Sparko F8e yet, life has been getting in the way a little bit lately but things seem to be settling down now. I’ll try to get a build log up in the near future, I took lots of pics. It was not the easiest build to say the least but now that’s it’s complete, it’s pretty freakin dope and it drives like it’s stuck to the ground. I’m beyond happy.

Sorry for not getting anything up on the Sparko F8e yet, life has been getting in the way a little bit lately but things seem to be settling down now. I’ll try to get a build log up in the near future, I took lots of pics. It was not the easiest build to say the least but now that’s it’s complete, it’s pretty freakin dope and it drives like it’s stuck to the ground. I’m beyond happy.

Wow! The Sparko is a serious piece of a kit!! Very nice!! I'd love to get a proper race rig like that, but then I'd have to build it out with rtr takeoffs cuz I'm broke, LOL. I actually have done exactly that with both of my Tekno's, an SCT410 and MT410, which I eventually stretched with an ET48.3 chassis. All completed with a mixed bag of takeoffs parts and budget banger China direct stuff.. a fella's gotta make do, ya know?

I know the feeling, I’m not buying anything new anytime soon. I’ve stretched my rc budget far enough for the moment and the Sparko only came to be because I was enjoying truggy racing so much. Since I was at the track anyway, why not. I suck at buggy racing but it’s a damn good time so it’s well worth it, and I always learn something new. I still much prefer the truggy’s over buggy’s but that is probably due to my sub par driving skills. That being said, the F8e is a hell of a buggy. You can adjust EVERYTHING!

Beyond parts and wear items, I’ll have to wait a bit. However, if I see a new Sparko truggy pop up, well I might have to reconsider. That or a banging deal on an Asuga, I still want one of those bad boys.

Buggies are more challenging to drive. I say that having come from a 1/10th buggy and touring car background.

Jumping from those to 1/8th nitro buggy - throttle input is very forgiving in comparison, so 1/10th electric teaches throttle finesse.

Truggies are more stable, corner faster and are just more consistent. I love them.

It must be hard racing Truggy, then going to buggy classes. It's definitely easier the other way around.

What you need is a rear engine, 2wd fire breathing 1/5th scale. Suddenly, 1/8th buggy will seem like Truggy.

I can believe that!! ANY overpowered 2wd is a handful!! I said the XB8 was tough to drive fast on my track, but I think a 2wd Rustler or Bandit is even less forgiving TBH. LOL

lol, agreed. I can only imagine the size hole I would leave crashing a 1/5 rc into things.

The buggy is a trip, it’s just very “unforgiving” compared to the truggies imo. You don’t get to make mistakes with a buggy, at least in my area. The true “buggy” guys kick our butts every time but it sure is fun! I like the truggy racing around me because they are just simple dudes like myself that are doing it for fun. We all like to see what we can come up with, what works, what doesn’t, etc.

When I have my truggy’s all set up correctly, they are forgiving and a blast to rip around. I’ve never “won” yet but I’ve been surprisingly close a few times. The ET48 is almost like the perfect point and shoot for me and the Mugen is much more of a “drivers” truggy, meaning that I kind of need to plan my path if that makes sense?

lol, honestly my TC and SSTE are still my favorites to drive around. I should follow the lead of some of you and try build a TC into a competitive truggy.

Setups will always be dependent on track and driver style. I have a real simple one in my "Shogun Shenanigans" thread for a baseline to experiment with. I honestly think that TC can be competitive with some adjustments. Club level, there really shouldn't be an issue. Once you go past that, though...the lack of adjustments will really slow it down, along with its weight.

And I agree; driving a buggy is definitely a more involved process. It definitely feels like you have to be more "planned" in your approach. I love driving my Eb48.3, but it also takes more focus to drive well. And I find that after driving buggy, my truggy lines are always a bit smoother and tighter.

Speaking of buggy...that Sparko is looking pretty dang nice. Almost makes me want to get one, but I can't betray my baby girl. At least not yet.

Plus the little plastic 2wd TRX weigh next to nothing, which doesn't help with keeping it going forward.. we run them on 2s, more than enough. Took a while for my bro to catch on, he thought he was cleaver running against me on 2s, he on 3s.. after blowing the rear tires off, and cooking the slipper pads, he finally came round to my way of thinking, LOL. While not competitive by any means, they are fun little rigs. Very good for learning throttle control indeed.

I run 3s in my Bandit when I get an itch for speed. I rip it up and down my street, which actually turns into my driveway (dead end). I run some cheap Duratrax sct tires/wheels, which balloon like the Dickens! LOL. I have no idea how fast it goes, but after struggling to make the slight curve into my driveway at speed, a blip of the throttle and it just flips over backwards on it's lid a slides for a hundred feet up my driveway!! What a site!! LOL. Unless it starts tumbling, which is when I get concerned, not!!

1/10th scale rigs seem nippier, and I'm reliably informed that 1/12th scale rigs are even more ridiculous.

I suppose with modern brushless systems, better power density in our batteries and much more compact electronics, mini RC's can be ridiculously fast. But they're no good on bumpy stuff or grass, so that's why I never even entertained the notion.

However, I quite like the idea of hosting a carpet race in my living room, with 1/28th scale cars, something like....

Go small, or go home! Err, I'm at home already...
