Running my Sketer on 4s with stock electronics and a 17t pinion but even in the cold UK weather and with an upgraded esc fan the esc cuts out after about 10 minutes.

I want to keep it on 4s but want a bit more speed for bashing.

Would a Max8 combo running on 4s enable me to go down to a 46t spur to increase the speed, and also stop the esc from going into thermal shut down?

Yes if buying combo & staying 4s you could pick up the combo with the 2500kv motor with higher kv than the stock motor might not need to change the spur but if wanted to maybe go 6s in the future go with the 2250kv motor. I remember watching chriswithac YouTube channel think he had that 2500kv combo in typhon & was rapid for 4s

Ah was just going to take it from another car which has the 2050kv motor.

I could use the corally motor with the HW esc and fit adapter for the motor 🤔

The sketer motor is Kirov 725 2150kv 4068 think it has smaller bullet connectors than max8(not 100%) the kuron 825 2050kv 4274 has same size bullet connectors as max8. But either motor will work with max8.

Thanks. Swapping the whole combo. Turns out my HW motor is a 2250 so better than I expected.

Changing motor in a Sketer is painful 😒

Put the kuron 825 combo in it. With a fan. Works like a charm. Did the same. Pain to work on indeed.
