Hi guys,

I recently took out the front and rear diffs from my XTR and noticed it was a bit dirty inside the bulkhead (or gearbox), in particular the rear one. I worry that the ingress and accumulation of sand and dirt in there could eventually cause some damage to the gears. So I'm wondering if anyone has tried to seal these boxes off? It seems to me that debris comes in from under the plastic box, between the gearbox and the metal chassis.
I was thinking I could seal that off with a thin layer of RTV silicon around the edge of the plastic box, so that when I mount it back onto the chassis it would create a seal between the gearbox and the chassis. See yellow line in the picture below.

What do you guys think, good or bad idea?

Oh that's great that someone has already released a product for this!
I would definitely pay €5.16 for the pair, but €17 shipping to Ireland is silly! A product like this they could just pop it on an envelope and send it as a letter through regular post and that would only cost a couple of euro.

I have some RTV silicon here, I might try that...
