Sorry if this is a repeat of someone else's post, but I've got a Kagama 6s roller on the way and I'm thinking about gearing for the different power systems I plan on running. I'm planning of starting with a max8, and then swapping to a max6 with a 4990 from my speedrun typhon once I'm satisfied with the speeds I hit. I'm planning on sticking with the stock 13t pinion for the max8 with the 2250kv, but im not sure what the gearing should be for the 1650kv one. I'm also curious if anyone has insights on good buggy gearing for a max8. Thanks!

I'm in this same dilemma. I just bought a Kagama roller, and wondering what electronics to fit.

I think I'm going to try it with the stock arrma 6s combo first and see how performance vs temps goes 🤔

My Typhon I ran on 19t with Max8 G2. Upgraded fans on motor amd esc kept it all v
Cool. I don't know what speeds I hit but she was very quick

19t for a typhon was right about what I was guesstimating. Thanks! I'd imagine the stock arrma setup will provide a good baseline, I mean I've heard the Kuron/Torox combo that comes in the rtr runs pretty hot, so it'll be interesting to see how the arrma system does

If you look in your manuals there also available online there is a gearing chart, for the stock electronics so with slightly higher kv motor maybe get a slightly higher top speed but should give you an idea for gearing.

Sweet! Are most 1/8 scales 3.3 ratio, or is this just something you know for the kagama?

I can tell you the Kagama with the Max6 G2 4990 combo is crazy fun.(y)
The stock TC combo is a great combo, but I'm pretty sure it's got a high timing programmed, which would explain the motors' tendency getting hot.
IMO the Kagama, being a heavy car with big tires, deserves a bigger (lower kv) motor than the stock 4274.
Don't forget to either replace the wheel nuts with serrated ones or make a few cuts in the stock ones with a Dremel. As of the Kagama 4s serrated wheel nuts are now finally stock.

I'm looking forward to it for sure! What gearing did you run?
