I think my motor has died

Yes the instructions are as bad as you said

Crikey - erm, Okay. 😬

As discussed, there's no need or benefit from dangling the fans like that. Keep the 4 spacers as spares for something appropriate.

The fans are best mounted flush to the heat sink, using 4 hex head screws. If the fans supplied only have 3 mounting holes, replace the fans for ones with 4 - they'll be much more secure for off-road/bashing use.

The closer to the motor, the better - for obvious reasons. At least the instructions show it this way as well. 💪👍🤣

Does this look ok? I used the paper technique and paper came out smooth but pushed closer so gears seem to fit better there is a little play in spur gear and paper comes out crinkled now
I really appreciate your help guys as I don’t want to damage this new motor
Any spare plug in your receiver. 👍

I'm not happy about this:

The paper technique assures a backlash gap of 0.05 - 0.1mm. This ensures smooth mesh.

From the photo and video, it's difficult to tell, but if I had to guess - it seems tight.

The best way to tell is - remove cover, hold the pinion still and rock the spur backwards and forwards. A small tick of play should be felt. Turn the spur 90° and check again. Then another 90° and check again. If the 'tick' of play is observable through 180° with no tight spots, your mesh is right.

Gap between the gears should not be so large as to knock or rock back and forth noticeably. This will result in stripping gears under load.

It basically just needs to not be tight. 👍

I have been working on this most of the day.

I like working on the Asuga when things go right but it never does!

I tried to take off middle diff cover and one of the bolts is rounded off I have never taken this off so must have been done when built. So gave up with that.

The fan wires are not really long enough spent ages trying to get through hole in reciever box so in the end took off and got them through that way.
The reciever stopped responding took all connection in and out ten times and started working again so no idea what happened there.

The program card works well was quite easy to re program servo but still does not straighten 100% I thought you could just the tow in as one wheel is pointing out slightly further than the other which i am sure is not helping with the steering issue's

I have one buckled wheel so I thought I would change but stuck on hub spinning on inside. AGGGHHHHHH

I did have a quick blast around the garage and thought it seemed pretty quick and then realised on 4s pack so might be a little quicker for my top speed runs :D

when I was completely cheesed of with the Asuga. I watched some video's from last year to try to motivate myself, I put them on you tube, on less than 10 sec each.

Great videos!! 🤩

Yeah, the wires are fiddly. If they're too short you'll need a universal RC receiver extension lead.

Extension lead - Y lead - 2 fans. Something like that.

Disturbance to the tiny little leads can sometimes mean that leads that power the Receiver are disconnected, or in some cases - plugged in the wrong way around - as in the wrong polarity when plugged in, which results in nothing happening (open circuit).

Channel 1 should always be steering. Channel 2 should always be throttle.

Wrenching on RC cars requires proper tools. I use Hudy drivers, but many people swear by MIP yellow handled jobbies. The main advantage are the hardened, precision ground tips that accurately fit the hex, so they tend to be less likely to round out you hex heads.

As for toe in / toe out - first physically centre your steering rack mechanically - with everything switched off.

With the rack in the centre, check the alignment of the wheels. Generally on a 4WD rig, you'd have about 1-2° toe out. Obviously, if you move the rack off-centre, you could have one wheel pointing straight and one wheel pointing out. Adjusting the wheels whilst in this position is every shade of wrong, so get your servo centred, with the horn off, centre the rack - THEN - adjust your track rods accordingly.

If in doubt, stick to a very slight amount of (equal) toe out or 0°, wheels straight ahead. 👍

I just wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who helped with all my stupid questions over the last couple of days (y)

The Yeah fans work really well I could hold finger on motor for as long as wanted as only luke warm.

Another stupid question how do you adjust track roads just a plastic bar ?

I believe corally makes an adjustable set, maybe @morrjr71 can chime in as I'm pretty sure he put a set on his asuga, if I ran me ne more id probably get a set cause the asuga is definitely toed out rather far in stock form

There are no stupid questions - only ridiculous answers! 😝

Some drift in that vid 👍

Do you think spur gear is moving around to much ?

You might be right about a little to much movement in spur, the plastic diff mount can wear out or saw a guy melt his on Syncro maybe check it over.

Stupid question where do you plug the fans into

corally receiver box only way get a plug in is to remove the thing pain in the ass bad design, you can also run a y splitter lead of esc fan port.

Yes can get adjustable if needed
  1. C-00180-903 end links
  2. C-00180-892 turnbuckle

What size motor did you go with in the end?

I was very lucky and managed to get it under warranty. So just a direct replacement. hence why I wanted to make sure the motor would not get to hot incase that is what caused the failure last time. (y)

I am really impressed with the Yeah racing fans so far it runs so cool now

Happy days, good to hear . Think corally pretty good that way heard people getting esc replacements also, another guy just had Syncro wheels replaced.
