Well i managed to grab myself a cheap belted version std xmaxx for a really good price off ebay, its loaded with hop-ups and has a large bag of spares with it aswell.
Love the look of the proline dodge ram body but its very weak, quite battered in places so im going to try and strengthen it up to get a few months out of it.
Bought it as a beater truck instead of trashing my xmonster

- gpm 2 piece center shaft
- gpm diff cup sleeves
- gpm steering assembly
- uprated servo
- vitavon steering arms
- rpm hinge pins all round
- upgraded fans in 3D print mount
- mod 1.5 gearing 30t spur & 12t pinion
- scorched spur shaft cover
- ADU chassis brace
- alloy motor mounts and motor mount washers

Nice! I do love the look of the X monster tires. They don’t fit my use but they are 100% cool looking!
I run some S2 output cups I got off amazon on my Xmaxx. They’re a huge improvement over the TRX cups that wear like butter. I run mine on a track so it doesn’t see much big air jumping, but the driveline takes a beating with high grip Rovan 1/5 buggy tires on clay. I know the Xmaxx doesn’t get much love here but IMO it’s a great large scale platform that is way more versatile than it should be. Nice score!👍

Good call, the Vitavon and M2C are definitely the ticket for high power setups. I tend to leave things stock whenever possible, my pockets aren't deep enough to run high power setups, LOL. I also don't have the space to go any faster. I could, but that would require I leave my own property to run them, which doesn't really appeal to me. I'm running a Firma 160 (V1) setup in my Xmaxx currently. The motor is the same size as the stock VXL that the Xmaxx came with but it runs way cooler and I swear it's more powerful. My Xmaxx is an older model from before the XRT came out, had the weaker hubs with smaller bearings. I upgraded to RPM initially then on to the XRT after the RPM parts gave up. Hubs, motor, drive cups and alloy toe links are pretty much the extent of my "upgrades". Oh, and TRX HD arms courtesy of my brother who had them on his Xmaxx then decided to go with the Wide-Maxx kit.
 
These XMaxx look like a ton of fun. Big yet light. I'm going to have to get one of these one day.

They are indeed! I understand your feelings towards TRX and certainly won’t argue. It might be hard for you to live with the lack of precision that these plastic fantastics are known for, LOL.
That said, they are fun, if I were doing it over I would have a hard time deciding between Xmaxx and XRT. Being a truggy of sorts, the XRT is more my style but it wasn’t out at the time. Soo many upgrades available for them it’s dizzying.
Second hand is a great idea, especially for a tinkerer like yourself. No shortage of either available over here second hand.

I'll have to see what all the fuss is about. I like the idea of a light weight large scale.

The XMaxx with it's high centre of gravity and lots of boinging around is a hoot.

The XTR is essentially a big-ass Truggy and I really need to stop building them - I too am a Truggy kinda guy. 😅
 
Aye second hand and full strip and rebuild is the way to go these things get absolutely twated by users so buying second is a minefield :eek:.

Got my one with two owners on the books and two out the house in the steet passes then left as shelf a queen by both owners, thing had more dust on it than miles on the clock when I got it :). If your in no rush keep looking for the right one and an already mildy upgraded mint x maxx will be yours to abuse and laugh at how it eats up nearly any terrain and wobbles about like its had a few, love my one its a realy fun truck :D.
