I’ve been looking for a dust cover for my rig will this overheat. I’m thinking it will, or is this cover just to keep the shelf queens dust free???

Didn't even know Corally had this cover! On their website there's a photo of how it looks when it's on. Hard to tell if it'll cause overheating issues, there's seems to be a lot of space under it so maybe it'll be ok?I’ve been looking for a dust cover for my rig will this overheat. Yeah... personally I don't mind the dust, it's rocks I worry about, small ones can get into ESC/motor fans and break them, bigger ones can get lodged on the shafts or steering.Worth a shot maybe? How much they charge for it?
My philosophy is, if the dust can't get in,neither can the air..no air, no bueno.. which equals magic smoke release is imminent.
Your results may vary✌
Nevermind aboot the price.. I catch on eventually![]()
That they do..lil basturdsYeah... personally I don't mind the dust, it's rocks I worry about, small ones can get into ESC/motor fans and break them, bigger ones can get lodged on the shafts or steering.
Or under the diff cup.Yeah... personally I don't mind the dust, it's rocks I worry about, small ones can get into ESC/motor fans and break them, bigger ones can get lodged on the shafts or steering.
OUCH!!!!!
Pesky things. I bought some rock guards but they were for the Kronos V1
I have no doubts about their ability to keep out the "evil", but if electronics temps are already a concern, I don't think a cover is a good idea myself. The Redcat Kaiju came with a similar cover, I call it a hair net(HaHa), but TBH even during the winter months running in below freezing temperatures my motor was getting too hot. I believe I tossed it since it wasn't large enough to cover my "fro".. I simply had no use for it.Found this universal cover: https://www.eurorc.com/product/20698/dusty-motors-adjustable-protection-cover---universal
Looks pretty good and they sell several different sizes.
Ah, if it'll still hold fluid, it's still good?
Yes I agree. Unless you're running at a gravel pit all the time it's probably not worth it. And it wouldn't be suitable for all vehicles because some configurations run hotter than others. I personally wouldn't put it on the XTR.I have no doubts about their ability to keep out the "evil", but if electronics temps are already a concern, I don't think a cover is a good idea myself. Agreed..now you have me thinking. I shouldn't have thrown it away, I could have used the hair net on my Tekno mt410, that thing never gets hot no matter how hard I run it.. it does only have truggy sized tires running a blx185 power system on 4s, but I just don't need anymore speed or power than that because it's so lightweight. Having no slot in the chassis under the spur gear, it does always seem to have stones stuck under the center diff cup..shoulda kept the netYes I agree. Good stuff! Can't argue with results! I must say, when I tried the mesh cover that came with my Kaiju, it was running hot without the cover..installing it only exaggerated the problem.I've had no issues at all with the dusty motors covers - they do exactly what they say on the tin.
No dust, grass, chippings or any other debris. The covers are made from mesh which still allows air to flow through.
Even in 90°F heat, my motor got no hotter than 160°F using dual fans.
Shouldn't result in magic smoke! Obviously depends on multiple other variables, but anything is better than the just letting all the crap get into your ESC and cooling fans.

Problems = Solved.
And it's not like I was taking it easy.

Gotta love the XTR!![]()
The Corally Motor/ESC for the Kronos is insane. It cooked itself with me during the first couple of runs because I wasn't using heatsinks or fans. And I was having too much fun.Good stuff! That particulr rc comes with an undersized motor.. I recently installed a 4274(stock was 4068), it runs MUCH better now, with no heat issues. Now, if only I hadn't already thrown away that "hair net"..![]()
I definitely do agree, the TC esc/motor combo is tuned aggressively. Which does require a close eye on temps..even batteries. The Corally Motor/ESC for the Kronos is insane. My bad.
Thankfully, the motor didn't melt or lose magnet strength, but I'm careful not to let the motor go much higher than 165°F.
The dual motor fans really help. The ESC fan obviously cannot be allowed to become blocked with FOD (foreign object debris). About the only way to ensure this is with a cover of some sort.
Similar filters are required on my Baja 5B around the crank case. The material on the Outerwears for the 5B engine covers is the same stuff as the Dusty Motors chassis covers .
I hear all sorts of stories about ladies tights going missing - who knew it was geeky model car bashers all along!

The Fuelie and Zenoah engines use vanes on the flywheel to draw air through the bottom of the engines and direct the air up under a shroud. This is all well and good until you encounter grass. Then the engine has no cooling. In worst cases scenario, it can actually stop the ignition from working properly as well.I definitely do agree, the TC esc/motor combo is tuned aggressively. So what's with the baja crankcase cover? What is the purpose of it? I understand the outwears pre filter for the air cleaner but not getting why a crankcase needs one?
Oh! Yeah, now I see!! That'll ruin the day I bet? I've seen a Losi 5iveT in action once around 10 years ago. I know it's a little off topic, but it's related to the mesh used on Dusty Motors - so I hope that's cool with everyone.

So, after a good clean up - aluminium mesh was used to cover the large intakes and Outerwears over that - belt and braces!
Hope that explains it. This engine still rips - it's a lot of fun to drive.
